With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.The Disaster and Climate Resilience Consultant will join the Disaster and Climate Resilience Solution Team and will report to the Climate Adaptation Solutions Director for Canada. This role focuses on supporting the Director and other members of the team in business development, project execution, and solutions design.The successful candidate will contribute to the execution of Arcadis’ Resilience and Climate Adaptation strategy, working closely with project teams and leadership to deliver innovative solutions aligned with emerging market trends, client needs, and regulatory drivers. They will actively collaborate across sectors and geographies to ensure the successful delivery of projects and the growth of Arcadis’ climate adaptation portfolio. This position emphasizes team collaboration, requiring strong communication, problem-solving, independent function, and organizational skills. The Consultant will also play a role in fostering knowledge-sharing within Arcadis.Weworkonimpactfulprojectsthat require innovative approaches whilebuilding on existing best practices in science, engineering, urban planning, digital solutions, and policy design in Canada and internationally. We think of ourselves as creative artistsin disaster and climate risk management.We like complex challenges,weaskbig questions, and wework with great people across Arcadis and external community of experts to findsolutions.Disaster and climate resilienceisourpassion,and we do it with a sense of duty and activism.Research & Knowledge Development: Key responsibilities for this role include conducting comprehensive literature reviews and research on a range of hazards and vulnerabilities that affect key assets, utilizing both Canadian and international resources and case studies. It is important to synthesize findings from historical events and emerging studies to help inform resilience strategies. Staying current with best practices, evolving risks, and innovative approaches in climate resilience and hazard mitigation is a continuous requirement.Analysis & Reporting: The position also involves analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data related to hazards, vulnerabilities, and geospatial information. One of the core tasks is translating technical research into clear, concise, and actionable insights, reports, and presentations that are accessible to diverse audiences. Additionally, the development of visually effective communication tools—such as maps, infographics, and dashboards—plays a crucial role in supporting decision‑making and stakeholder engagement.Stakeholder Engagement & Workshop Support: Stakeholder engagement and workshop support are also key aspects of the role. You will assist in designing, preparing, and facilitating collaborative workshops and consultation meetings. Building relationships and engaging with a variety of stakeholders, including ministries, technical institutions, local governments, Indigenous partners, and private sector representatives, is encouraged. Capturing and documenting stakeholder input will ensure that project outcomes are both inclusive and well‑informed.Project Delivery Support: Supporting project delivery is a daily responsibility, which includes providing assistance to project managers in planning, coordinating, and executing resilience‑focused projects. Contributing to project documentation, tracking, and reporting is vital for ensuring that project milestones and Arcadis’ quality standards are consistently met. There is also an expectation to proactively identify challenges and opportunities for enhancing project delivery and client satisfaction.Skills and Competencies: The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical writing and communication abilities, particularly in reporting and presenting complex information. Good problem‑solving and analytical skills are necessary in order to develop creative and practical solutions. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration and for building lasting relationships across teams. An interest in continuous learning about disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation is highly valued. Finally, the ability to work independently and make informed decisions with minimal direction is a key asset for success in this role.Qualifications & Experience:The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:A Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Planning, Geography, Economics, Public Policy, or a related discipline.1-5 years of relevant experience in engineering or environmental consulting, climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, or resilience planning.Experience and expertise in any of the following is an asset: Understanding climate data, GIS mapping, data analysis, etc.Why Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position.
