We are a growing firm of one lawyer, one paralegal, one fish, and one dog located in downtown Calgary, two blocks from the Courthouse. We are looking for a 2+ year PQE Associate to join our team. While we currently specialize in Family and Estates Law, we are open to lawyers who specialize in other areas of practice. We are looking for someone who wants to build their future with us. Diligence, integrity, personal ownership, and a love for what you do is required. We seek a lawyer who wants to learn, be mentored, and become an expert in their chosen area of law.

Qualifications

This candidate will be able to work well within a team, be open to direction and leadership, and be willing to learn within that environment. We want you to gain knowledge from us, but we want you to teach us too. Our place of work is where we all feel successful, proud of what we do, respected, supported, and encouraged by one another.

Our priority is law well practiced. That means client service is our top priority. You must have strong communication skills and be clear and precise when speaking to clients, other counsel, the Courts, and our team. You have to be very detail oriented as law is all about the details. Ensuring documents are prepared correctly and promptly makes our client know their matter is important to us. We bill fairly and with the highest integrity. Our clients come to us at life’s most difficult times and they place their trust in us; we take that responsibility very seriously.

Our team is attentive, productive, dedicated, and produces high quality work but it is our goal to have manageable stress and fun while doing it. Our billable targets are highly achievable without having to kill yourself to attain them. The ideal candidate is a person who wants stability, control of their own practice, life balance, and who has an entrepreneurial approach to their legal practice. We love initiative and drive Compensation is commensurate with billings. We have one of the most generous fee splits in the profession. A portable book of practice is preferred, and we will help you to learn how to market yourself and bring in your own billings. This is an important aspect of private practice for which you will be additionally compensated.
