Position: Children's Ministry Director

Children’s Ministry Director 

Job Status: Part Time Compensation: $20,000 (20 hours/week)

JOB PURPOSE:

The focus of the position will be to grow and develop the CLC Kids Ministry @ Christ Lutheran by creating a welcoming and Christ centered environment for children and their families with a long term vision of growing the ministry to reach into our community.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Energetic, warm and able to share the love of Jesus to children, their families, and volunteers
• Able to contextualize Bible stories and Biblical concepts for kids of various ages

• Prepare lessons and needed materials for children’s programming
• Interact and meet with kids, parents, and volunteers to build relationships and rapport
• Recruit and schedule all ministry volunteers
• Attend staff meetings as needed

Qualities

Needs to have:

• Prior experience working with kids (in a church context is a plus)
• Strong relational skills, specifically with children
• Actively engaged in Christian community within a church

• Self-motivated with ability to manage and execute tasks in a timely manner, comfortable taking initiative, and able to follow through on plans
• Communicate with parents and leaders through the most effective communication channels (email, text, social media, handouts, etc.)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office/ Google Apps, Canva, OR a willingness/ability to learn

Nice to have:

• Understanding of developmental benchmarks in children 0-10 years

• Familiarity with autism, ADHD diagnosis, common behavioral patterns
• Musical ability

Sunday Mornings:

• Provide a warm, friendly and engaging environment for children and families
• Lead Sunday School program alongside a volunteer that you scheduled
• Attend Christ Lutheran worship servcie

Sunday Evenings:

• Work in conjunction with the Pastor Wes and Anya to craft a strategy for evening programing
• Design programming that has a balance of fun and age appropriate biblical content that encourages children to think about their faith
• Provide a warm, friendly and engaging environment for children and families

Our Vision for This Ministry:

Maple Plain is a community that is filling with families and young children. In an effort to best minister to the community that we are planted in Christ Lutheran Church wants to develop a new ministry where families of the community can come to receive God Centered teaching that is helpful to parents as they raise their kids. We know that raising kids is hard, and we want to be there to help our community.

In order to accomplish this, we want to partner this ministry to parents with the creation of a dynamic and engaging children’s ministry program running concurrently. Working with the lead pastor, the Children’s Ministry Director will help create and run a children’s ministry program to serve the needs of the students inside and outside Christ Lutheran church.

Because we know that the impact of any ministry to students is minimal each week, we aim to make this a parent’s ministry that kids also come to. Parents are the #1 influence on students’ faith formation, and we recognize that both must be ministered to in order to have a significant faith formation effect on the student.

Our desire that this ministry will start as part time & will grow with you as the ministry grows.
