This role is critical to building a motivated, well-supported volunteer community that enables the Organization to deliver high-quality programming. Duties Collaborate with Division, Department, and Special Project leaders to assess volunteer needs, including required numbers, skills, knowledge, and abilities. Develop clear and engaging volunteer role descriptions based on identified needs. Lead volunteer recruitment efforts, including promoting opportunities, screening applicants, and coordinating placement and scheduling. Plan, organize, and sessions. Ensure volunteers receive appropriate training, resources, and ongoing support to perform their roles safely, effectively, and confidently. Plan and lead the annual post-Pride volunteer appreciation event. Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer records and information databases. Lead volunteer check-in on festival and parade days, ensuring volunteers are welcomed, informed of their roles, directed to the correct locations, and aware of who they report to. Organize and manage volunteer check-in logistics for all festival and parade activities. Coordinate volunteer food, refreshments, and breaks throughout festival weekend. Supervise, support, and reassign volunteers as needed during the festival and parade to ensure operational needs are met. Coordinate real-time volunteer logistics during festival and parade operations, responding to issues and adjusting assignments as required. Skills Required Skills/Qualifications Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and work effectively with a diverse range of people. Demonstrated experience managing volunteers and/or coordinating projects. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and retain volunteers. Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sensitivity. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, particularly in fast-paced event environments. Solid administrative and IT skills, including maintaining electronic and paper records. Experience working with external partners or companies is considered an asset. Ability to write and speak French is considered an asset.
