Based in Toronto, this high-visibility leadership role is central to setting national underwriting direction and supporting technical excellence across the commercial property portfolio.This is more than a technical role—it’s a strategic position for a proven leader who can drive portfolio performance, elevate underwriting practices, and influence organizational direction in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.What You’ll Be Responsible For:Leading the creation and refinement of commercial property underwriting guidelines and wordingsServing as a senior referral and technical authority for complex and high-value risksDriving consistency and discipline across underwriting operations nationallyCollaborating cross-functionally with actuarial, claims, risk services, and executive leadershipCoaching and developing a team of high-performing underwritersIdentifying emerging trends, risks, and opportunities to support profitable growthChampioning innovation, process improvement, and best practices across the portfolioWhat You Bring to the Table:10+ years of commercial property underwriting experienceMinimum 3 years of leadership experience managing underwriters or technical teamsStrong business acumen and ability to link underwriting discipline to financial performanceIn-depth knowledge of the Canadian P&C insurance landscapeTrack record of influencing underwriting strategy at a national or regional levelExceptional communication skills and a collaborative, people-first leadership styleBachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experienceDGA Careers has been proudly serving the Canadian insurance industry for over 30 years, specializing in providing insurance recruiting services to major insurers, insurance brokerage firms and independent adjusting firms.
