About the RoleThe Financial Analyst, FP&A will work closely with our Finance Director and collaborate with the CEO at our Montreal Head Office. In this role, you will support the team by preparing and maintaining financial reports, assisting with budgeting and forecasting cycles, and completing analyses that help inform business decisions. This position is well-suited to an early-career candidate seeking to build strong FP&A fundamentals with coaching and oversight from senior finance leadership. You will gain exposure to financial modeling, business performance tracking, and cross-functional collaboration. You will also support initial research related to new markets and potential business opportunities by gathering data and summarizing findings. This is a full-time contractual position for a period of 13 months. Who You AreThe ideal candidate will be inherently self-motivated, a self-starter with a passion for analyzing data, developing and maintaining financial models (including sensitivity analysis), delivering market research and deal execution, and turning large data sets into meaningful, actionable information. The role will involve both financial and management accounting. The candidate will play a pivotal role in the forecasting process and month-end close, providing financial insights for strategic decision-making. ResponsibilitiesFinancial Planning & AnalysisPerform various analyses of financial and operational performanceSupport financial reporting for management decision-makingIdentify opportunities for report automation and continuous process improvementsProvide timely forward-looking information and analysis for decision-making purposesMaintain the company\'s financial modelling and assist in building new models and reports as the company growsCollaborate with the broader Finance team on financial reporting, trend analysis, working capital and WACC modelling and analysisSupport the accounting & reporting teams in the preparation and analysis of financial reporting packages, MD&A and ongoing maintenance and improvement of management reporting tools and dashboardsSupport the Treasury team in analyzing and modelling finance reporting and cash management reports and presentations and the Confidential Information Memorandum for lendersAssist in the preparation of presentations to the board of directors, senior management and various internal and external stakeholdersAd-hoc in-depth financial and data analysis AnalyticsUtilize advanced analytics to extract meaningful insights from financial and non-financial dataCollect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sourcesDevelop and maintain comprehensive dashboards and reports to build a holistic view and support efficient decision-makingCollaborate with cross-functional teams to provide thorough analysis, scenario modeling, and actionable insightsEvaluate market trends, commodity prices, and relevant industry data to inform strategic decision-makingSupport the CFO and Executive team with ad-hoc analytics and special projects as requiredPartner effectively across all business functions including Risk Management, Operations, IT, Finance, and Commercial to ensure ongoing alignment of priorities RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field1 to 3 years of relevant work experienceAdvanced Excel proficiency (PivotTables, Macros, etc.) and PowerPoint knowledge requiredExpertise with research databases, PowerBI, and CapitalIQ is considered an assetFinancial modelling, market research, accounting, and analytical skillsStrong communication skills with the ability to share insight and collaborate across departmentsExperience in commodities trading, supply chain management, logistics is an assetDemonstrable experience in data or business analysis with an aptitude for creating meaningful insightAbility to meet deadlines in a rapidly changing business environmentStrong initiative to work independentlyLanguage: English fluency required due to regular interaction with stakeholders across North America and international markets What We OfferWorkplace & PerksBeautiful, spacious, and modern workplace environmentOn-site gym and yoga studio reserved for employeesSubsidized chef-prepared lunches served fresh daily, plus a well-stocked kitchen with snacks and drinks throughout the dayFree on-site EV charging for employees at head office Note: The original document includes repeated diversity and company overview sections; these have been condensed to eliminate duplication while preserving essential information.
