We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about making a difference.Position OverviewThe Engineering II (Manufacturing) is a member of the Engineering department that prepares work instructions, operation detail sheets, creates purchase orders, designs jigs and fixtures to support production and assist in continual improvement initiatives to streamline manufacturing. This position is also responsible for managing small to medium size contracts.LocationThis position is onsite in Oakville, Ontario.Your Day to DayDevelop detailed work instructions including CAD drawings, Inspection Test Procedures (ITPs), and Manufacturing Control Sheets (MCS) to lead the process to manufacture and assemble these complex precision-machined components.Interface with Machinists, Programmers, and Quality Control Engineers to ensure that all manufacturing processes are proven prior to the start of production.Schedule and lead all Pre-Production Part Qualification samples, managing and leading the team through the launch process (drawings / tooling / MCS, fixtures, inspection plans, etc.).Work with Machinists / Operators to drive run-time reduction through Time Studies and Lean 5S events, identify waste and develop action plans to implement changes.Lead and manage all Process / Engineering Change requests.Design component jigs, fixtures and test rigs.Disposition non-conformances and create rework instructions to release non-conforming parts back into production.Mentor junior team members (e.g., Co-op / Interns).Assist with capital expenditure reviews for purchasing new equipment.Role may involve working on assigned shifts that may change periodically (day, afternoon, weekends).Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Nuclear Engineering.5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role; 2-5 years in an engineering role in the nuclear industry or similar high-spec industry (e.g., Aerospace).P.Eng License considered an asset, or working towards license in Ontario.Knowledge of ASME Code, ISO 9001, CSA N285.0 and N299 quality programs is an asset.Experience in mentoring junior team members with training or work completion.Demonstrated ability to achieve department KPI goals and objectives.Expert in 3D solid modeling software; SolidWorks preferred.Experience with manufacturing of precision-machined components and related processes including heat treatment, plating, assembly and testing activities.Excellent organizational and time management skills with a focus on continuous improvement.Strong communication and problem-solving skills to work within a team-based environment.What We OfferWe provide comprehensive and competitive benefits for employees and their families, prioritizing well-being.Retirement Savings: Company-matched RRSP.Health and Dental Coverage: Competitive benefits plus a Health Care Spending Account.Life Insurance: Company-sponsored life insurance.Educational Refund Program: Up to $5,250 USD annually.Employee Referral Program: Generous, two-tiered referral bonuses.And more benefits to support our team.BWXT confirms that the position represents a current vacancy within our organization.At BWXT, we are committed to a fair, transparent, and inclusive hiring process.
