Associate Project Manager – Conexus Nuclear Inc. (Conexus)Scope (Purpose)We are seeking a part‑time Project Manager (20 hours/week) to lead and facilitate joint projects for our national and international Members within the Fuel Channels Program under Joint Projects & Services (JP&S). These initiatives are critical to advancing clean energy solutions, extending the life of CANDU® nuclear reactors, and complying with regulatory obligations. In this role you will engage key stakeholders, foster collaboration among CANDU® owners, and manage projects to ensure a successful completion. Reporting to the Program Manager, Fuel Channels, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of nuclear energy and sustainability.RoleAssociate Project Manager, Project Management, Joint Projects & Services (JP&S), Direct Supervisor: Program Manager, Fuel Channels, Next Level Manager: Director, JP&SKey AccountabilitiesTake ownership for facilitating assigned joint nuclear projects related to CANDU® technology, responsible for planning, execution, and closeout within established budget and schedule.Develop and maintain strong relationships with Members, facilitate and assist project steering committee in mitigating risks, managing issues, and identifying opportunities.General ResponsibilitiesInitiate, coordinate, and manage multiple joint projects simultaneously to achieve the defined objectives of scope, quality, schedule and cost.Plan, organize, and facilitate project meetings under the direction of the steering committee.Facilitate project vendor selection, including preparing RFPs, reviewing bids, and negotiating commercial terms and conditions with support from Conexus Business Services.Apply Project Management methodology to coordinate suppliers and steering committee to deliver projects according to plan.Engage with suppliers and steering committee to monitor scope, cost, schedule, risk, quality, etc.Administer contracts and change control processes in accordance with Conexus policies and procedures.Coordinate the deliverable review and approval process.Review and approve project payments in conjunction with the Program Manager.Identify opportunities for improvement in the project management process.Evaluate project and lessons learned via post‑project review and close‑out processes.Perform other duties as required.RequirementsEducation & ExperiencePost‑secondary education in Engineering or Science (mechanical, electrical or nuclear engineering preferred).Project management certification such as PMP or equivalent.At least 5 years’ experience as a Project Lead or Project Manager in nuclear, with at least 3 years managing small to medium projects ($150K‑$550K) of medium to high complexity.Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while delivering results to stakeholders.Knowledge of CANDU nuclear plant design and operation principles.Experience with CANDU licensing basis, major components design/operation (fuel channels) and fuel channel surveillance activities per CSA N285.4 is an asset.Knowledge of the CANDU nuclear industry – utilities, suppliers, and organizations.Understanding of Quality Management Systems, Quality Assurance, Canadian and International Standards and Codes related to design and procurement of nuclear components (e.g., CSA N299, N286, N286.7, ASME NQA‑1, ASME BPV Code Section III: Subsection NCA).Experience with MS SharePoint, Project, Access or other enterprise project‑management software; proficiency in MS Office.CompetenciesTechnical Problem Solving & Analytical Thinking: Diagnoses and resolves hardware, software, and networking issues, identifies root causes and implements practical solutions in high‑pressure environments.Infrastructure & Systems Administration: Supports, monitors, and maintains IT infrastructure, applies best practices in updates, patch management, and cybersecurity protocols.End‑User Support & Customer Service: Provides responsive first‑and second‑level technical support, ensuring high user satisfaction and clear communication.Cybersecurity Awareness & Risk Mitigation: Understands fundamentals, assists with incident response, vulnerability management, and maintains secure environments.IT Asset & Lifecycle Management: Manages the full lifecycle of hardware and software assets, maintains inventory, ensures compliance with standards.Collaboration & Communication: Works effectively across departments and external stakeholders, communicates clearly, and supports a team‑based approach.Success Indicators / KPIsEffective Project Execution: Projects completed on time and within budget, aligned with goals and governance.Clear Project Scope & Governance: Scope, terms, and conditions defined and agreed upon by all members.Strong Stakeholder Engagement & Satisfaction: Positive member feedback on project effectiveness.Cost Efficiency & Value Creation: Shared projects yield cost savings and maximize value.Proactive Opportunity Identification: Consistently identifies and pursues new project management opportunities.Work EnvironmentConexus employees are expected to consistently demonstrate our core values of Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, Sustainability, and Agility.
