Minimum Qualifications Class DZ license and clean driver’s abstract/CVOR Road maintenance experience and knowledge of OTM book 7 Mechanically inclined to operate small tools and heavy equipment Willingness to remain on call and work assigned day, night, and weekend shifts Preferred Qualifications Ability to lift 50 lbs Basic computer skills Day in the Life As an ERU Crash Truck Operator, you will become familiar with highway conditions as you respond to calls dispatched from the MTO with urgency and other emergency situations such as spills, accidents, inclement weather, and to assist in implementing an emergency plan as needed. You will complete incident reports, liaise with the supervisor and MTO, and coordinate with the OPP, Toronto Fire, and EMS to ensure the safety of the travelling public, providing traffic control at accident scenes and setting up and taking down traffic signs. When you are not responding to incidents, you will operate a variety of equipment, including tractors, mowers, loaders, service trucks, and graders. You will perform minor repairs to the highway, conduct daily circle checks, maintain equipment, and complete accurate documentation of incident reports, time sheets, fuel records, and hours of service. You will be an essential member of the maintenance team and first point of contact in some situations. If you have a safety‑focused mindset and love to be on the road, this is the ideal role for you.
