Property Tax Analyst

Worker Type: EmployeeJob Post End Date: 01/22/2026**About this opportunity:**The Property Tax Analyst will support the effective management of property tax obligations through analysis, coordination, and stakeholder engagement. This role contributes to accurate reporting, informed decision-making, and compliance across a diverse asset portfolio. The analyst will work closely with internal teams and external partners in a dynamic environment that requires strong analytical skills, adaptability, and attention to detail.**What you’ll do:*** Review property tax assessments, analyze variances against prior years, and prepare and file assessment appeals where appropriate.* Manage the annual property tax cycle, from receipt of tax notices through validation, appeal, and payment.* Analyze data to identify trends, discrepancies, and optimization opportunities.* Support the Request for Information (RFI) process by coordinating with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and assessment authorities.* Respond to internal and external inquiries related to audits, budgeting, forecasting, future projects, acquisitions and divestitures (A&D), and joint venture disputes.* Provide guidance and recommendations related to asset inventory and property classification.* Represent Cenovus in industry associations and committees such as CAPP and CPTA.* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with applicable property tax legislation and deadlines**Who you are:**Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:* Legally authorized to work in Canada.* Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analytics, accounting, or related financial roles.* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent field.* Prior experience with property tax, accounting or analysis would be considered an asset.* Advanced proficiency in Excel or equivalent data analysis tools.* Comfortable working in complex, ambiguous environments with competing priorities.* Strong organizational and prioritization skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.We acknowledge the value of transferable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.**Note: The application deadline for this position is 11:59 PM MT January 21, 2026.**Cenovus was ranked one of Canada’s Best Employers in 2025.
