This position can be located in our Calgary or Winnipeg offices.ResponsibilitiesProvide senior technical input for delivery of water resource management projectsProvide technical input for complex or unique assignmentsSupport multi-disciplinary projects or programsDirect, coordinate and supervise water resources related activities of engineering and design groups, both from a technical and functional standpointCoordinate with cross-disciplines to identify and incorporate relevant data pertaining to hydrologic and hydraulic parameters, system connectivity, discharge points, project constraints, and implementation considerationsUndertake hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, including surface drainage, storm sewer networks, dual drainage systems, sanitary sewer networks, and combined sewer systemsInterpret results of simulations to assess capacity, identify system deficiencies, and evaluate improvement optionsApply monitored and statistical data to models to simulate return-period and continuous scenarios, and to calibrate and validate resultsProvide guidance to field staff undertaking data collectionProvide project engineering and technical expertise, calculations, and design input to various stormwater management and drainage systemsLead conceptual and detailed design of drainage and/or stormwater management infrastructureUndertake studies, assessments, modeling, preliminary and detailed design, cost estimates, specifications, and input to contract documentsProject components include project planning, technical evaluations, studies, preliminary design, final design, and services during constructionStudy evaluations include the analysis of alternatives, methods of implementation, and cost analysesFulfill project plans in accordance with established scopes of work, budgets, and schedules to execute high quality projectsDevelop new or novel concepts and approaches, and recommend major design changesInput to the career development of more junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoringBusiness DevelopmentContribute to business development activities including leading the preparation of project proposals and presentationsEngagement with our clients to identify potential opportunities and strategic prioritiesLearning & DevelopmentCommit to self-development and ongoing learning to stay knowledgeable of industry best practices and advancements in drainage designContribute to Dillon's corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committeesContribute to the career advancement of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoringQualificationsWhat you will need to succeedUndergraduate degree in engineering or other related discipline with a focus on water resourcesEligible to hold valid license from relevant provincial Professional Engineering Association10+ years’ relevant experience in a consulting environment on water resources engineering projectsExperienceMandatory experience in a range of water resources related projects, including urban drainage systems, hydrotechnical engineering, and stormwater managementExperience with analysis, infrastructure design and construction administrationProficiency with the application of XP/PCSWMM, HEC-RAS/HMS, and related computer models would be considered an assetExperience with dams, hydraulic structures, erosion protection, or mine water management would be considered an assetExperience in water resources and civil engineering projects in western CanadaExcellent communications, report writing, organization and interpersonal skillsAbility to work in a collaborative, team environmentExcellent initiative and attention to detailBusiness development and proposal preparation and submission managementWhy Dillon?Dillon is powered by people who are technically proficient, passionate about socially important projects, and motivated to deliver superior, tangible results.
