We made air travel more affordable for Canadians and now we're going global.Please note: This is a hybrid work position in Calgary, Alberta and requires in-person collaboration at the WestJet Campus (22 Aerial Place NE), a minimum of 3 days per week.Join us, this is where your career story takes off.Overview of role:The Commercial Development team is responsible for guiding the creation of the commercial plan for WestJet and supporting key major strategic initiatives and financial analysis from across the organization.We are seeking a Senior Analyst to join the Commercial Development team to lead the analysis, development, and implementation of growth strategies across the broader commercial team for the coming years. In this role, this person will complete Revenue Management, Network Planning, and other Commercial analysis that falls outside of normal course of business. The role will also work on market management, business case development, and financial analysis. This critical, future-oriented position requires an individual who exhibits a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, is results-driven, has strong analytical skills, demonstrates an ability to influence others, and a passion for aviation.Key deliverables include:Lead the development of our long-term commercial strategies, working with partners in Network Planning, Pricing & Revenue Management, Strategy & Fleet, Finance, Loyalty, and SalesDevelop and present complex financial and strategic analysis to support executive decisions on major strategic and tactical initiativesBuild break even, net present value, and other financial models to support business case analysisLead projects from assessment of needs, to recommending approaches, to knowing who in the organization to involve, and achieving success in a timely mannerComplete analysis related to Network Planning, Scheduling, Pricing & Revenue Management, Ancillaries, and WestJet VacationsProvide guidance on the implementation of projects, tasks, innovations, and opportunities; coordinate with stakeholders, define objectives, communicate moving milestones, and escalate appropriatelyMaintain a deep understanding and stay current with industry trends, changes, and the competitive landscapeEstablish and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and partners to obtain information and complete analysisOverall, this role blends strategic analysis, financial acumen, business intuition, creative thinking, and project leadership to build and implement a broad commercial plan for WestJet group for the coming years; the role also provides support to various commercial and operational teams within WestJet and requires strong collaboration and leadership skillsExperience and qualifications:University degree required, ideally in business, economics, statistics, mathematics, or financePreference for an MBA, CPA, or CFA designationAdvanced knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to communicate at an executive level with information that tells a story, highlights key insights, and influences business decisionsExperience conducting detailed financial and strategic analysis, drawing out implications and recommendationsUnderstanding of supply, demand, and airline economicsStrong ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneouslyRelevant work experience with previous work in airline commercial planning, scheduling, network strategy, revenue management is preferredExcellent analytical, inter-personal, and effective problem-solving skillsStrong process management skills, initiative, ability to manage competing priorities and attention to detailStrong commercial acumen with the ability to think “big picture” and understand what potential outcomes could beIntermediate knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools such as Alteryx, SQL, Tableau, PowerBI, Snowflake is considered an assetThe benefits of being aWestJetter:WestJet provides allWestJetterswith a competitive total rewards package.
