It’s a chance to help shape the future of the team and organization while growing personally and professionally.ResponsibilitiesThe Supplier /Vendor Manager (SM) is responsible for managing the day-to-day relationship with third-party IT vendors — especially those providing infrastructure, security, compliance, and SaaS services. They ensure vendors deliver what they’ve promised, follow the rules, and help reduce any risks to the business.Hybrid role as part of the team.Develops, promotes, maintains, and manages an assigned business/group vendor management program.Ensures the effective and efficient execution of all program components, including change management, communications, and risk mitigation.Acts as a trusted advisor with strategic guidance and fostering strong internal partnerships, especially with leaders.Influences and negotiates to achieve business objectives, including vendor terms, service levels, and compliance requirements.Reviews the vendor management program/processes for effectiveness, recommends and implements enhancements.Assists in the development of strategic plans and analyzes data to provide program insights and recommendations.Advocates for broader organizational support and assists in the consolidation of supplier relationships across the organization, including onboarding suppliers without formal relationships.Educates and cross-trains members.Accountable for how vendors are engaged, how relationships are maintained, and how performance and risks are tracked.Soft Skills (Interpersonal & Strategic)Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Clear and effective communication with internal teams and external vendors; ability to translate technical terms for non-technical audiences.Negotiation & Influence: Persuasive and diplomatic in vendor discussions, able to secure favorable outcomes while maintaining strong relationships.Strategic Thinking & Planning: Contributes to long-term planning and helps align vendor strategy with business goals.Problem-Solving & Conflict Resolution: Handles issues proactively and balances the needs of different constituents.Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support: Works across departments (IT, Finance, Legal, Procurement).QualificationsTypically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge and experience managing vendor programs; in-depth knowledge and technical proficiency.Verbal & written communication skills; collaboration & team skills; analytical and problem-solving skills; influence skills; data-driven decision making.Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation in IT is preferred.Salary & BenefitsSalary: $69,000.00 - $129,000.00Pay Type: SalariedBenefits and total compensation information as described by employer; varies by location, skills, experience, and qualifications.About UsBMO Financial Group is committed to an inclusive, equitable and accessible workplace.
