Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope Island Health – Port Hardy, British Columbia, Canada Job Summary: In accordance with Island Health’s Vision, Purpose, and Values, the Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope performs assessments, plans and provides personal care, and executes nursing procedures under the direction of the Manager or designate. The role requires continuous improvement of quality and safety in patient care. Responsibilities Perform assessments, develop and implement care plans, and provide personal care to patients. Execute nursing procedures in compliance with BC College of Nurses and Midwives standards and internal protocols. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain patient safety and quality of care. Qualifications Registration as a practicing LPN with BC College of Nurses and Midwives. For perinatal positions: completion of a perinatal education program plus breastfeeding course, or one year of acute perinatal experience within the last two years, and NRP certification within the past two years. For MHSU positions: completion of additional education outlined by BCCNM for practice with mental health and/or substance use disorders as primary diagnosis. Skills and Abilities Effective verbal and written communication with patients, families, and team members. Organization of work and implementation of patient care plans. Demonstrated full scope of practice, including medication administration. Operational use of related equipment and physical carry-out of duties.
