Exciting Leadership Opportunity

We are searching for our next People Experience Director. In this role, you will be accountable for promoting excellence in people by supporting Team RVH through the employee life cycle. This includes delivering innovative people strategies and programs that attract, develop, and retain Team RVH and supports a highly engaged workforce that feels valued, recognized, safe, and allows them to grow to reach their full potential. As a trusted advisor, transformational leader, and partner, the Director will lead the development and sustainment of enterprise people strategies and advisory services that are grounded in RVH’s values of team up, be kind, do great things, inspire trust, and be bold. Reporting to the Vice President, People Experience and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), you will be empowered to:

  • Partner with leadership in the development and implementation of a people strategy that cultivates fulfilled, high-performing teams;
  • Collaborate with leaders to determine priorities and goals, and partner with Team RVH to develop programs and solutions that drive clinical and academic excellence;
  • Build robust talent and workforce strategies that support Team RVH to provide exceptional patient and family experiences;
  • Transform people services with a focus on outcomes, through simple, clear, and effective policies, processes, and systems;
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on all aspects of people including safety, health, scheduling, workforce optimization, people analytics, total rewards, planning, talent development, succession planning, performance management, organizational design, policy development and interpretation, and employee and labour relations;
  • Partner with our unions in the delivery of labour relations strategies, systems, and programs that foster an excellent employee and labour relations culture;
  • Advance negotiations and implementation of collective bargaining agreements, ensuring consistent interpretation and compliance with agreed upon terms;
  • Oversee and develop total reward programs that support a positive and inclusive employee experience;
  • Monitor and develop proactive strategies that address people trends, legislative changes, and the future of work;
  • Build prevention programs that support a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace and stabilize RVH’s workforce;
  • Create and maintain a physically, psychosocially healthy, and safe workplace;
  • Support our people during periods of work and life challenges by creating an environment that respects the needs of individuals;
  • Support patient care through workforce management, scheduling, timekeeping, payroll management and analytics;
  • Track, analyze, monitor, and leverage appropriate human capital performance indicators and trends to inform advice, programming, and service delivery;
  • Promote and champion equity, inclusion, and anti-racism strategies;
  • Foster a culture of engagement, inclusion, and transparency, leveraging diversity.

As the successful candidate, you will focus on developing and building on existing processes and practices to continuously transform our approach to people services. You’ll do this by bringing a unique and highly authentic blend of leadership qualities and skills to the role, which are grounded in a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, and a strong sense of self-awareness.

You have:

  • University degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations or related field post-graduation and/or Master’s degree;
  • CHRL designation is an asset;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in human resources preferably in a public sector environment including a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience;
  • Strong cross-functional experience in safety, systems, total rewards, change, and employee and labour relations;
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams to develop enterprise-level, complex people programs, and services that are focused on experience, service delivery, and outcomes;
  • Strong business acumen, analytical capability, and solutions orientation;
  • A proven track record of gaining and sustaining credibility, partnerships, and trust with senior decision-makers, leaders, peers, Team RVH, union partners, and the community;
  • Superior analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to be agile and flexible;
  • Strong strategic and critical thinker who finds creative and innovative solutions;
  • Proven effective leadership of diverse teams with a commitment to learning and unlearning to support equity, inclusion, and diverse perspectives and needs;
  • Excellent inter-personal, communication, active listening, and presentation skills;
  • Demonstrated credibility as a culture builder and change agent with results reflected in strategy, operations, and people;
  • A strong ability to link strategic direction with business strategies, using a system thinking approach;
  • A personal commitment to a track record of championing inclusion and equity;
  • A track record of driving positive experiences for people through programs, services, and advisory functions;
