Our consumer business client is seeking a Technical Lead to lead healthcare data migration initiatives using FHIR and software architecture

Join a healthcare data migration initiative focused on transitioning legacy systems across various consumer endpoints into a FHIR-compliant ecosystem. This role leads technical solutioning, architecture discussions, and implementation-ready technical design activities across healthcare interoperability projects. The position offers visibility across architecture, development, QA, and healthcare SME teams while supporting complex modernization efforts. The initial 6-month contract has strong extension potential.The ideal candidate is a senior technical leader who combines deep software engineering knowledge with practical healthcare interoperability experience. They can lead solutioning, produce detailed technical designs, and guide a development team through delivery.

Most importantly, they understand what it takes to migrate legacy healthcare data into a FHIR-compliant environment and can demonstrate their contribution to a successful migration.

Start: ASAP

Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension

Location: Remote; with occasional travel to Brampton or North York for workshops or team meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in technical discovery, solutioning, and architectural design discussions
  • Translate business and technical requirements into detailed technical design artefacts
  • Lead the development of sequence diagrams, component diagrams, workflows, and implementation-ready documentation
  • Collaborate with solution architects, healthcare subject matter experts, and software developers
  • Provide technical leadership across design, development, QA, testing, and release activities
  • Guide developers in implementing solutions aligned with target architecture and design specifications
  • Support the design and delivery of healthcare data migration solutions aligned with FHIR standards and interoperability requirements
  • Contribute to technical decision-making, design reviews, and implementation planning.

Must Haves:

  • 12+ years of overall software development and technology experience.
  • 8+ years of experience working as a Technical Lead or in a comparable technical leadership role.
  • Proven experience working with FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) in a healthcare technology environment, or contributing significantly to a full data migration from a legacy healthcare data environment.
  • Knowledge of HL7 and healthcare interoperability standards
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, solution design, and technical implementation.
  • Experience translating complex requirements into detailed technical specifications and design documentation.
  • Familiarity with sequence diagrams, component diagrams, system workflows, and other technical design artefacts.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience working collaboratively across architecture, development, QA, and release teams.
