Your Opportunity St. Michael’s Health Centre provides compassionate continuing care for individuals with diverse needs in a nurturing, homelike environment. Our specialized services range from rehabilitation for post-acute recovery from strokes, surgeries, or accidents, to tailored day programs addressing physical, social, or memory challenges. We prioritize spiritual care and supported living for dementia patients, integrating these vital components into our holistic approach. This comprehensive care model encompasses post-acute rehabilitation programs, complex mental health support, dementia care, supported living at level 2, palliative, and long-term care services. The Geriatric Community Rehabilitation (GCR), Bridges Day, and Adult Day Programs are the premier outpatient seniors' programs in Southern Alberta. The GCR program serves seniors who require outpatient therapy services and focuses primarily on rehabilitation after an event or injury. The Bridges Day program serves our seniors in the community by providing maintenance care through social, cognitive and physical engaging activities in the hope of maintaining independence. Description The Health Care Aide (HCA) provides basic nursing care to patients/residents as directed, assists with activities of daily living, and performs other activities necessary to meet the personal needs of patients/residents. The HCA maintains and promotes patient/resident safety, comfort, privacy, dignity and independence, and performs duties to maintain an aesthetic environment. The HCA is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement. Responsibilities Provide basic nursing care to patients/residents as directed and assist with activities of daily living. Maintain patient/resident safety, comfort, privacy, dignity and independence; ensure an aesthetically pleasing environment. Adhere to established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Active status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Candidates may be considered if in progress on the Directory. Must provide proof of active enrolment. Physically able to assist with all aspects of patient/resident care and transport. Must understand written and verbal directions in English. Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum of 6 months of experience in a long-term care or similar geriatric healthcare setting. Basic understanding of long-term care principles. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with healthcare teams. Demonstrated empathy, patience, and professionalism. Preferred Qualifications: Training or certification in Geriatric Care or Long-Term Care (e.g., Certified Palliative Health Care Aide). Crisis management training (e.g., NCI or TCI). Experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Connect Care). Skills in supporting residents with cognitive impairments and complex care needs. #J-18808-Ljbffr
