Lotus Group has partnered with a non profit organization that represents Metis beneficiaries of the Sahtu Dene and Métis Land Claim Agreement and is headquartered in the Northwest Territories. They are seeking an Executive Director to join their team, preferably in Yellowknife, NWT. This organization provides programs, services, and advocacy to support its members and advance community interests. The Executive Director is the senior operational leader of this community. Reporting to and working in partnership with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall management, operations, and strategic execution. The Board delegates authority for day-to-day operations to the Executive Director, who ensures organizational effectiveness, accountability, and alignment with the company's mission, vision, and strategic priorities. Key Responsibilities Provide overall leadership by implementing the strategic plan and advancing organizational priorities. Act as a senior representative and spokesperson, in collaboration with the President, with governments, partners, and stakeholders at local, regional, and national levels. Build and maintain strong relationships that reflect the organizations cultural, regional, and community values. Provide strategic advice, analysis, and make recommendations to the Board and President. Governance & Board Relations Ensure the Board is informed of significant matters and organizational performance. Support Board governance functions and ensure Board decisions are implemented. Participate on Board committees in a non-voting capacity. Prepare for and support all Board and membership meetings, including accurate records and minutes. Operations & Administration Oversee all day-to-day operations. Lead, supervise, and evaluate staff and contractors and delegate responsibilities as appropriate. Foster a positive, collaborative organizational culture and support staff development and training. Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, policies, and standards. Develop and implement operational plans, policies, and procedures aligned with strategic objectives. Implementing and updating all policies and procedures. Oversee financial management, budgeting, and financial reporting. Monitor financial performance against Board-approved budgets and ensure responsible fiscal management. Work with external accountants and auditors to ensure timely audits, year-end statements, and required filings. Liaise with legal advisors to ensure the company meets all legal and regulatory obligations. Recommend funding allocations and resource requirements to the Board. Programs & Membership Support Oversee all programs, including renewal and enhancement of existing services. Ensure programs and services reflect the needs and priorities of the members. Provide leadership and support to membership initiatives and engagement. Travel as required to support meetings, partnerships, and organizational objectives. Key Requirements Proven Executive Director or senior leadership experience within a non-profit, Indigenous, Métis, or community-based organization. Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous governments, land claims, and agreements, including a strong understanding of how these frameworks impact operations and governance. Experience working with territorial and federal governments. Knowledge of the Indian Act and its implications for benefits, housing, education, and community governance. Must possess a solid financial acumen. Experience operating in remote or northern communities, with a strong understanding of cost pressures, logistics, and cultural context. Resilience and emotional intelligence, including the ability to work with sensitivity in environments affected by substance use, mental health challenges, and community trauma. Commitment to living in the Northwest Territories, or travelling there periodically to maintain a strong community presence. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with community members. Highly adaptable, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented. Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on execution. We thank all interested applicants.
