Structural Engineer | Heavy Industrial Projects
Position Overview
Are you passionate about large-scale steel structures and complex engineering challenges? Do you enjoy transforming concepts into practical solutions that account for fabrication requirements and construction realities?
DPHV is seeking a Structural Engineer specializing in steel structure design to contribute to major industrial projects in the hydroelectric sector.
This opportunity is available at either our Sainte-Dorothée (Laval) or Terrebonne office, depending on the successful candidate’s preference.
Your Role
As part of our team, you will:
- Design steel structures for heavy industrial facilities, including buildings, lifting systems, penstocks, and hydromechanical equipment
- Perform structural calculations, analyses, and design validations in accordance with applicable codes and standards
- Develop optimized structural solutions tailored to site conditions, fabrication requirements, and construction constraints
- Contribute to the development of steel erection and assembly sequences
- Design temporary stability systems and lifting devices
- Prepare and review technical drawings and specifications in collaboration with drafters and technicians
- Provide technical guidance and support to project managers, clients, and project partners
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and project follow-up activities
- Work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
What We’re Looking For
- Strong interest in structural design and engineering analysis
- Intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for solving complex technical challenges
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Fluency in French, both spoken and written (required)
- Intermediate proficiency in English, both spoken and written (required for certain projects)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Building Engineering (advanced steel design coursework required)
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (an asset)
- Consulting engineering experience (an asset; responsibilities will be tailored to the candidate’s experience level)
- Proficiency with SAP2000
