Job Description

Our client in construction manufacturing industry is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to join their team in Laval, QC. The Health and Safety Manager ensures the effective implementation of health and safety programs. Providing leadership and expertise, they guide the development and execution of safety strategies, standards, policies, and processes while ensuring legislative compliance and fostering awareness among management and field personnel.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with Senior Leadership and Business Unit Management to improve safety processes and systems.
  2. Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety policies and programs.
  3. Lead the development and direction of the facility's Occupational Health and Safety Program.
  4. Support unit management in identifying improvement areas and implementing action plans.
  5. Analyze health and safety metrics and provide insights to support decision-making.
  6. Ensure compliance with legislation and contractual requirements.
  7. Provide coaching to management teams on legislative and corporate safety requirements.
  8. Deliver health and safety training programs reflective of legislative and corporate policies.
  9. Facilitate incident/accident investigations and develop corrective actions.
  10. Manage post-incident processes, including Worker’s Compensation claims.
  11. Assist units in preparation for health and safety audits and address recommendations.
  12. Lead periodic group audits to assess implementation of safety systems.
  13. Identify system, program, and training needs and ensure alignment with HSMS requirements.
  14. Assist in the development and sourcing of new safety products.
  15. Provide leadership and development opportunities to staff.
  16. Ensure team alignment and communication of company initiatives and best practices.
  17. Work closely with management on the implementation of safety systems.
  18. Maintain positive relationships with site management, employees, and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:

University Degree with formal training in relevant fields. Minimum 8 years in Health and Safety or related roles. 5+ years in the construction materials industry preferred. Minimum 3 years in a supervisory role. Bilingual in French and English. Preference for professional Health & Safety designation.

Le gestionnaire de la santé et de la sécurité veille à la mise en œuvre efficace des programmes de santé et de sécurité. En fournissant leadership et expertise, il guide le développement et l'exécution des stratégies, normes, politiques et processus de sécurité tout en assurant la conformité législative et en sensibilisant la direction et le personnel sur le terrain.

Responsabilités :

  1. Collaborer avec la haute direction et la direction des unités opérationnelles pour améliorer les processus et les systèmes de sécurité.
  2. Aider à l'élaboration et à la mise en œuvre des politiques et programmes de santé et de sécurité.
  3. Diriger l'élaboration et l'orientation du programme de santé et de sécurité au travail de l'établissement.
  4. Soutenir la direction des unités opérationnelles dans l'identification des domaines d'amélioration et la mise en œuvre de plans d'action.
  5. Analyser les indicateurs de santé et de sécurité et fournir des informations pour soutenir la prise de décision.
  6. Assurer la conformité aux exigences législatives et contractuelles.
  7. Fournir du coaching aux équipes de direction sur les exigences de sécurité législatives et corporatives.
  8. Dispenser des programmes de formation en santé et sécurité conformes aux politiques législatives et corporatives.
  9. Faciliter les enquêtes sur les incidents/accidents et élaborer des mesures correctives.
  10. Gérer les processus post-incident, y compris les réclamations pour indemnisation des travailleurs.
  11. Aider les unités à se préparer aux audits de santé et de sécurité et à répondre aux recommandations.
  12. Diriger des audits de groupe périodiques pour évaluer la mise en œuvre des systèmes de sécurité.
  13. Identifier les besoins en systèmes, programmes et formation et assurer leur alignement avec les exigences du système de gestion de la santé et de la sécurité.
  14. Aider à l'élaboration et à l'approvisionnement de nouveaux produits de sécurité.
  15. Offrir du leadership et des opportunités de développement au personnel.
  16. Assurer l'alignement de l'équipe et la communication des initiatives et des meilleures pratiques de l'entreprise.
  17. Travailler en étroite collaboration avec la direction sur la mise en œuvre des systèmes de sécurité.
  18. Maintenir des relations positives avec la direction du site, les employés et les organismes de réglementation.

Qualifications :

Diplôme universitaire avec formation formelle dans des domaines pertinents. Minimum de 8 ans d'expérience dans des rôles liés à la santé et à la sécurité. Plus de 5 ans dans l'industrie des matériaux de construction est préféré. Minimum de 3 ans dans un rôle de supervision. Bilingue en français et en anglais. Préférence pour une désignation professionnelle en santé et sécurité.
