The role blends project execution and leadership, suitable for someone with strong technical skills who excels in a collaborative environment and is seeking increased responsibilities on South Vancouver Island.You will have a strong client focus, significant civil engineering experience, and familiarity with the design and construction of municipal infrastructure. You will support team building, mentoring staff, client management, report writing and proposal preparation, with effective interpersonal and communication skills.You will lead the delivery of infrastructure to customers primarily within the municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater sector, and be prepared to lead multi-disciplinary projects.ResponsibilitiesLead the planning, design and construction of municipal infrastructure projects including water, wastewater, and stormwater conveyance facilities.Design systems related to lift stations, pump stations and other mechanical equipment for water and wastewater utilities.Serve as Engineer-of-Record on small, medium, and large municipal infrastructure projects.Lead, manage and mentor junior and intermediate engineering team members, developing technical and project management competencies.Lead design and field inspection teams to meet design objectives during construction.Provide contract administration, quality control/assurance, and ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and environmental requirements during construction.Prepare documentation for design projects and reports; prepare project specifications and contract documents.Lead and support client communication and management; proposal preparation; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting and scheduling.Coordinate multi-disciplinary projects.Minimum RequirementsMinimum 8 years of related experience in civil engineering, design, and construction inspection, with 4+ years in municipal water, wastewater or stormwater conveyance and infrastructure.Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).Professional Engineer (PEng) or eligible for registration as P.Eng. in British Columbia.Preferred QualificationsValid Driver's License and access to a vehicle.Attention to detail and ability to see the bigger picture.Excellent technical writing skills.Effective communication with colleagues, contractors, and clients.Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment.Project management experience is a benefit.MMCD Contract Administration certification is a benefit.Working knowledge of water/wastewater/stormwater conveyance infrastructure in a municipal environment.Additional InformationSponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.Offered compensation will be based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
