The MLA performs basic routine procedures according to established protocols and performs phlebotomies as per departmental policy. The candidate maintains a safe work environment, complies with quality assurance programs, adheres to accreditation standards, and follows all organizational policies and applicable legislation. Experience Previous related laboratory experience preferred. Education Completed Grade 12 or equivalent (Manitoba Standards) – required. Completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant program preferred. Certification / Licensure Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification – preferred. Qualifications & Skills Proficiency in Windows computer environment. Microsoft Office experience preferred. Medical terminology knowledge preferred. Sterile techniques and routine laboratory practices preferred. Typing speed of 50–55 wpm valuable. Basic math skills (fractions, percentages, ratios). Ability to follow oral and written instructions with high attention to detail. Strong oral and written communication (English required). Independent work and teamwork capabilities. Work under pressure. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Fluency in both French and English may be required. Capacity to perform duties as described. Physical Requirements Not Applicable Additional Information Travel to Rivers and Shoal Lake may be required. Term position may end earlier as outlined in the collective agreement. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
