Our client, a premium casual apparel manufacturer is looking for an enthusiastic leader to join their fit team. Managing a team of 3, the Fit/Pattern Technical Manager will be responsible for inspecting and leading the fits department towards the company's goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Examines the technical designer sketches to make sure the garment is feasible and gives appropriate
    feedback when required.
  • Create initial specs based on picture, original sample, block patterns or designer's indication.
  • Verifies and measure all samples against size specifications from development to production
    and reports corrections tobe made if needed and record them on technical packages.
  • Ensures that the sample produced matches the pattern and the original sketch. Make corrections
    to size specifications and details to achieve desired fit andlook.
  • Ensures that the required corrections from previous verifications have been made (measurements,
    explanation or corrections, pictures and pattern as back up) within assigned deadlines.
  • Assure consistency of the fit, quality, measurements and construction of each garment.
  • Lead the fit session to ensure garments meet the company’s fit standards.
  • Ability to create and correct patterns manually and digitally is a must.
  • Give precise instructions to factories on how to correct patterns and grading.
  • Maintains effective and accurate communication with his/her team and performtight follow-ups.
  • Provide ongoing training and technical support to all vendors to ensure they understand and meet the
    requirements.
  • Work closely with the Design and Production Teams on all technical and fit issues.
  • Communicate on a daily basis with the makers overseas, as well as to update the production report as
    it pertains to status of patterns for bulk production.
  • Clearly communicate with suppliers and the Import Team any changes, fit issues or corrections
    that need to be made and resolve problematic styles and ensures that the issue is well understood.
Requirements:
  • College or University Degree in Fashion Design or related.
  • 10+ years of experience in fit for Ladieswear & Menswear apparel in multiple commodities.
  • Excellent knowledge in knit and woven fabrications and in garment construction (including outerwear and denim).
  • Solid computer proficiency - strong knowledge in Excel, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and digital pattern
    making software.
  • Capacity to interpret design intent, create sample and production patterns, ensuring consistency with known
    factory construction methods and processes.
  • Ability to work from both pattern blocks and sketches to convert a designconcept into a cost-efficient garment.
  • Relevant experience in patternmaking and grading (manual and computer).
  • Advanced technical knowledge related to product fit and construction to provide leadership for complex apparel
    development projects.
  • Strong communication skills; must be bilingual in French & English (written/spoken).
  • Must be able to work efficiently on a tight calendar and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly effective project management overseeing all fit communication by ensuring that priorities and deadlines
    are met.
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate ability to take initiative.
  • Analytical skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work in collaborative team environment, as well as independently.
  • Have a positive, proactive and productive approach.
