Key Tasks and Responsibilities Administers and oversees payroll and timecard functions. Support general Human Resources and/or Accounting functions based on relevant experience Coordination and processing of payroll and related processes. Audit Timecards to ensure proper pay. Supports Human resources and Finance in ensuring monthly requirements for employee and employer pension contributions are submitted accurately and on time. Coordinates and tracks employee time off balances through ADP. Interpret union collective agreements to process accurate payrates. Support improvement to ADP to align with pay agreements. Reconciliation with general ledger, including the processing of monthly and annual governmental reports, returns and statutory filings related to payroll taxes and withholdings. Assist in the audit process, primarily involving additional supporting documentation. Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities for labor budgets. Assists with month-end financial reviews of labor variances to budgets and forecasts. Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis of finance related data for senior management. Works closely with Human Resources and Finance to improve efficiency of payroll processes. Reviews tax assessments, invoices, and other reports to ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulatory taxing authorities for sales, use, property, federal and provincial taxes, as applicable, and other governmental reporting requirements. Perform ad hoc duties as assigned. Other Important Functions Strong organizational skills with ability to meet strict deadlines. Interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively work without major conflicts. Analytical skills are required to support business systems, including budgets, and planning. Demonstrated ability to work with multiple demands, priorities and directions. Self-motivation is necessary to ensure that the work progresses without supervision. Being a self-starter is essential. Job Specifications Education and Experience Requirements College or University education in the field of Accounting, Finance or Human Resources 3-5 years of payroll processing knowledge and experience 5+ years of relevant accounting or human resources experience Enterprise software experience is preferred.
