An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join the Parkinson’s team providing a specialist nursing service to people with Parkinson’s disease. This will include managing a patient caseload, providing education and acting as a resource for service users / providers & promoting effective communication between all health professionals. You would be part of a team comprising Parkinson’s specialist nurses, physio’s a nurse consultant and team secretaries delivering high quality care to people with Parkinson’s disease and their families in the community. The essential requirements for this post include being qualified for a minimum of five years, having spent a minimum of two years employed within an elderly care / neurology / community setting, successful completion of Parkinson’s training and the Independent Prescribing qualification. Main duties of the job To provide a specialist Parkinson’s nurse service to people with Parkinson’s disease within the community. This post will involve reviewing people face to face or virtually via Attend Anywhere or telephone. The key components involve managing a patient caseload, acting as an educational resource for service users / providers and promoting effective communication between all health professionals and the voluntary sector. There will be responsibility for ensuring the continuity of locally delivered services under the direction of the nurse consultant / service lead, deputising when required and supporting junior members of staff within the team.
