Job Description:

Requirements:
  • Leads multi-discipline teams in business transformation initiatives to align cross-government and cross-sector programs and services with to ensure the web is best utilized as a platform for service delivery, using the Province’s citizen-focused, evidence-based approach for web and service design.
  • Creates the Web Strategy and a plan to deliver on the Strategy to transform the business from the ‘as-is” structure to the “to-be” structure.
  • Addresses the organization’s executive including ADMs and Executive Directors; is a compelling and persuasive presenter.
  • Provides advice, recommendations and options; requires effectively communicating and obtaining buy-in of the Strategy and user experience approaches with executives and senior management.
  • Provides mentoring on user experience approaches and methodologies to team members during projects; may provide formal user experience training and develop appropriate training materials.
  • Demonstrates the highest level of experience, knowledge and skills in all three areas of Design Research, Information Architecture and Content Development.
Qualifications:
  • The User Experience Specialist is required to have the following Mandatory skills and experience.
  • Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) Degree or higher in a design or technology discipline or a related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience gained working in a user. experience capacity OR Diploma in a design or technology discipline or a related field, and 6 years or more of experience gained working in a user experience capacity.
  • Experience with related UX Design practices and skills, including journey maps, service blueprints, personas, and developing wireframes, prototypes and visual designs.
  • Experience producing user interfaces and interaction models for digital products, including low and high-Client prototypes, user interface concepts, design patterns and complete production-ready user interfaces.
  • Experience providing advice, recommendations and options for service strategies and user experience approaches for executives and senior management.
  • User experience design on complex, technical projects that managed large volumes of data.
  • Experience working in an agile, digital product- focused development environment with user experience teams, service designers and developers to iteratively create and improve digital products and services.
  • Experience as a visual designer for web and digital applications.
  • Experience designing to meet WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Experience mentoring on user experience and service design approaches and methodologies to team members during projects; may provide formal user experience / service design training and develop appropriate training materials.
  • Ability to determine and utilize the best tools (sketching, html) to convey design concepts throughout the product lifecycle, including high and low Client prototypes.
  • Experience completing usability.
Skills and Experience:
  • Experience working creatively within the constraints of a mandatory corporate design system.
  • Experience in the use of design tools including Figma, Miro and Photoshop.
  • Experience using agile project management software such as Zenhub and Github.
  • Experience creating service strategies and plans to deliver on the strategies.
Service Requirements:
  • The Contractor’s responsibilities will include the following.
  • Working with Service Client staff, contractors, and other interested parties to develop user experience approaches, service design approaches, mock-ups for implementation and conduct/support user research.
  • Providing demonstrations or presentations to staff, management, executives and interested parties to share ongoing work and solicit feedback.
  • Status reporting at daily stand-up and through other team ceremonies.
  • Knowledge transfer and mentoring for less experienced user experience designers and visual designers.
