Job Description: Parsons is looking for an experienced BMS Coordinator to join our team. The BMS Coordinator will be responsible for the building’s technical systems including HVAC, automation and security systems from construction through to handover. Working as part of the T&C team, they will ensure that construction is completed as per the design and project agreement, ensuring that the Building Management Systems are installed and functioning correctly. What You’ll Be Doing: Conduct thorough testing and commissioning of Building Management Systems (BMS) to ensure proper functionality and integration with other building systems. Oversee the installation of BMS equipment and components, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry standards. Identify and resolve issues that arise during the testing and commissioning phase, providing effective solutions to ensure system performance. Prepare, review and maintain detailed documentation of testing procedures, results and system configurations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards. Provide training and support to facility personnel on the operation and maintenance of BMS systems. Ensure that all testing and commissioning activities comply with local, provincial and federal regulations, as well as industry best practices. Drive the BMS testing & commissioning phase of the Works and provide leadership and direction on path forward. Develop and implement BMS commissioning and handover sequences, operational readiness strategies, guidance documents, and templates and ensure existing documentation is updated. Ensure correct interface documentation is in place and followed during testing and operational activities. Monitor and control test hierarchy and defined process on site to support project “Commissioning Work” activities, commissioning milestones. Understand testing and operational sequences on site, attend or run commissioning meetings with subcontractors/suppliers to define and implement priorities to deliver project needs. Responsible for site safety during testing and commissioning activities, in particular during energization and dynamic testing. Coordinate and implement light/corrective maintenance with defined documentation during testing phase. Ensure project schedules are followed and communicated/updated so that deliverables are provided in a timely and cost-effective manner to all external and internal stakeholders. Ensure that Discipline Leads are applying the principles of validation as outlined in the T&C Plan. Ensure that all third‑party contractors consistently adhere to the installation and commissioning requirements and V&V processes. Utilize previous project knowledge and experience to find solutions to challenges and setbacks as they occur. Remain up to date on the recent best practices to ensure that lessons learned across the industry are applied as required. What Required Skills You’ll Bring: Demonstrated understanding of basic engineering and construction concepts, practices and procedures. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Management or similar field from an accredited institution OR relevant Trade certification and equivalent years of experience performing on a large, heavy, complex public infrastructure project. 5 Years of experience working on railway projects. Must be able to work on‑site for the duration of the project. Must be able to negotiate the terrain of an in‑process construction site and perform frequent site visits, working in all types of Northern Alberta weather, outdoors, at‑heights, noise, dust, as required. What Desired Skills You’ll Bring: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or related field. 5+ years of experience working on multiple railway projects with a full understanding of system engineering, requirements, and verification and validation processes in testing and commissioning of BMS or related systems. 10 plus years hands on Testing & Commissioning experience with leadership and documentation experience. Experience with railway systems or large MEP, automation of industrial processes, Data centers. Technical knowledge and experience as a BMS certified automation professional (CAP) or equivalent. Experience on sequenced energization, staged operational readiness and temporary operations control measures. Interface with operational systems (Brown field), Integration process controls. Strong understanding of BMS components, protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus), and integration with HVAC, lighting, and security systems. Familiarity with building codes, safety standards, and industry regulations related to BMS systems.
