Claims Consultant

Claims Consultant Join to apply for the Claims Consultant role at Intact As a Claims Consultant in our Property Team, you will consult and collaborate with the claims handlers on complex claims through all distribution channels. You will be responsible for the monitoring of complex first‑party claims with exposures in Canada, including Commercial Property, Personal Property, Equipment Breakdown, Environmental Losses and additional Specialty Claims. What You’ll Do Here Manage, investigate, analyze, and provide support to adjusters to negotiate and resolve large and complex commercial property claims generally with exposures over $500,000. Engage and manage internal and external counsel, adjusters, accountants and engineers to confirm coverage, determine liability and assess damages. Mentor, guide and provide technical advice to file handlers and managers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling and support long‑term priorities. Train adjusters and colleagues on complex claims handling, including coverage interpretation and quantum assessment of all exposures. Work with Underwriting, Loss Prevention and other stakeholders to identify potential risks, hazards and trends, sharing feedback and lessons learned. Provide outstanding customer service to Brokers, Customers, and Colleagues, delivering and exceeding all key performance indicators related to loss development and claims leakage control. Leverage your expertise in a creative, continuous improvement environment to support a model of best‑practice operations. Effectively negotiate claims when appropriate. May attend settlement conferences and trials. May attend loss location and other client and broker meetings, when appropriate. Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position. Undergraduate degree or CIP designation (asset). Flexible to travel as needed.
