Position: Child and Youth Care Practitioner (Casual Replacement) Pay Rate: $61,848.00 - $73,028.00 per year as per the collective agreement Location: Burlington, Halton Hills (Acton & Georgetown), Oakville, Milton (HDSB Schools) The Halton District School Board (HDSB) is one of the fastest growing school districts in Canada, serving more than 66,000 students across 100+ schools. We are seeking a Child and Youth Care Practitioner to join our clinical services team. Child and Youth Care Practitioners are members of a school-based resource team and provide consultation to school staff on the behavioural, social and emotional needs of students. Responsibilities Providing direct service to students in class-wide, small group or individual formats Engaging in the provision of professional development related to whole class, small group and individual learning Participating in multi-disciplinary School Resource Team meetings Provide educator consultation Provide suicide risk screening Deliver/facilitate professional development to educators and other board staff as requested Minimum Qualifications A recognized degree or advanced diploma in Child and Youth Care from an accredited institution or equivalent A commitment to anti-oppressive and anti-racism Strong interpersonal skills, and verbal communication skills Flexibility, patience, tolerance, enthusiasm, creativity and team-orientation Competence with Google Work Suite and electronic record keeping A commitment to ongoing learning Excellent judgment, organizational and time management skills Authentic, resilient, dependable, reliable and have the ability to problem solve effectively Adherence to a high level of professional and ethical standards Experience working in a fast-paced environment Knowledgeable of local community resources Reliable transportation and the ability to work at a variety of locations throughout the day Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a school board setting Current registration in the Ontario Association of Child & Youth Care (OACYC) would be an asset Experience supporting individuals from a variety of lived experiences (socio-economic, cultural, etc.,) Lived experience as a member of an equity-deserving group Broad understanding of and an inclusive approach to relationship building with diverse stakeholders in the community and in schools Experience and/or interest in providing skills training to post-secondary students Appointments Are Conditional Upon Provision of an original copy of a criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening dated within 6 months Agreement to comply with the board’s policies, procedures and code of conduct Please submit your cover letter and resume to Apply To Education by 4:00 pm on DATE through the following link: Job Category: Management and Professionals – Job Code # We encourage you to respond to our voluntary applicant self-identification questions.
