Maintenance Repairperson

Job summary
Perform skilled repair and refurbishment work on NL Housing owned residential units. Work includes carpentry, plastering/painting, and plumbing. Prepare estimates, maintain records, and complete work on occupied and vacant units.
Job seniority: mid-to-senior level
Responsibilities
• Perform carpentry work including replacing doors, windows, siding, and cupboards. • Perform plastering/painting work. • Perform plumbing work. • Perform mold/mildew remediation and minor asbestos abatement. • Determine scope of work, prepare estimates, and maintain records. • Prepare vacant units for occupancy. • Install and work from scaffolding if required. • Perform other related work in the various trades if required.
Requirements
• High School diploma or equivalent. • Completion of a 9-month Carpentry or Renovation Technician program (equivalencies may be considered). • Experience in residential maintenance/construction carpentry. • Experience in the plastering and painting trade. • Experience in the plumbing trade. • Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification in Carpentry (asset). • Knowledge of carpentry, plastering and painting, and plumbing trades. • Knowledge of National Building Code. • Ability to estimate materials/supplies and labour. • Ability to effectively exchange information. • Ability to prepare straight-forward text. • Ability to work independently and manage time and tasks. • Client Service Orientation.
