OverviewFamily Practice Obstetrics Physician - Powell River (Primary Care Obstetrical Provider) – Full Time, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). This urgent locum coverage has the opportunity to transition to a permanent position. Start date: January 1st, 2026. Work site: qathet General Hospital, Powell River, BC. The role involves providing primary obstetrical care and may be combined with general fee-for-service family practice/hospitalist work in community clinics and in hospital.ResponsibilitiesProvide primary obstetrical care as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary perinatal service.Contribute to the development of a full-service perinatal program with obstetricians/gynecologists, family doctors, midwives, nursing, and lactation consultants.Engage in teamwork to optimize and retain rural perinatal services.Option to integrate obstetrical work with general family practice and hospitalist duties, depending on setting.QualificationsAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License – ProvisionalCanadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) EligibleCanadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) membershipObstetric experiencePediatric Advanced Life Support (PAL)Education, Licensing, & ExperienceStrong preference for candidates with obstetric experience and appropriate licensure as listed above.BenefitsComprehensive health benefits package, including MSP, extended health, dental, and municipal pension planEmployer-paid training and leadership development opportunitiesWellness supports, including counselling and incident support for employees and immediate familiesAwards programs recognizing staff, medical staff, and volunteersAbout Vancouver Coastal HealthVCH is a leading innovator in medical care, research, and teaching, serving more than one million BC residents.
