OverviewWe need two additional family physicians for a 75‑bed addiction treatment facility on Vancouver Island. Clients stay on average for 60 days of addiction treatment. The clinic is located on the grounds of one of Canada’s premiere addiction treatment facilities and provides primary care for patients, staff and the residents of Cobble Hill. Virtual care is provided to alumni of the centre. Income is dramatically boosted as all staff and facilities are provided by the centre which makes overhead costs nearly zero.ResponsibilitiesProvide primary care for patients, staff and the residents of Cobble Hill.Admission and detox management for inpatients.Virtual care to alumni of the centre.After hours on call is available but not required.Flexible hours; extra work in the local community hospital or the city of Victoria (40‑min drive).QualificationsFamily physician; 2 additional family physicians needed for an addiction medicine focused practice.No prior addiction medicine experience required; prior ER or inpatient detox experience would be of benefit.Canadian or American board certification in addiction medicine will be promoted and supported.Hospital privileges at local Cowichan District Hospital would be an asset but not a requirement.Benefits and IncentivesFee‑for‑Service Physician Overhead 5% | Retention premium 4.20% | Retention flat fee $6,509 | Relocation funding available up to a maximum of $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from) | Recruitment incentive up to a maximum of $10,000 (pro‑rated based on FTE) | CME: $2,200/annum for years 3–4 and $4,400/annum after 4 years in the community.
