The Fort McMurray District is seeking motivated, courteous, and hardworking individuals with exceptional customer service skills to fill the Seasonal District Support and Information Officer positions at Gregoire Lake Provincial Park. Role Responsibilities Information Officer (IO) The IO is based indoors at the registration booth/concession. Responsibilities include providing exceptional front-line customer service while registering campers and delivering information about park activities, regulations, and amenities. IOs are expected to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors in-person, over the phone, or online. Strong time management skills, attention to detail, work well under pressure. Conflict resolution skills to manage customer complaints and facilitate feedback. Seasonal District Support The position has a combination of duties, supporting and assisting with daily operations at park facilities. The primary purpose is to be the first point of contact for Information Officers, providing guidance, ensuring excellent customer service, and collaborating with team members. Supports the Area Office Coordinator through revenue tracking and reconciliation and other administrative tasks. Excellent time management skills, strong attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently. Strong conflict resolution skills to manage customer complaints and facilitate feedback. Current Hiring Needs 7 Information Officers (IOs) 1 Seasonal District Support Information Officer Duties (AS2) Administrative Duties Record safety, accident, or wildlife occurrence information on reports and ensure timely delivery. Maintain lost and found records; tag and organize found items efficiently. Assist in distribution of information-based communications (posters, brochures, program advertisements). Maintain knowledge of recreational/tourist opportunities to respond to in-person and telephone/email requests. Business Operations (Booth, Camp Store, Concession) Use Shop.AlbertaParks.ca system to register campers, process changes, cancellations, checkouts, reservations, payments, and refunds. Operate cash register and point-of-sale machine using ASPIRA software; ensure accurate and balanced floats and cash outs. Open and close tasks/procedures; maintain building security, cleanliness, organization, and safety; report maintenance issues immediately. Continued Role Responsibilities Communicate hours of operation to visitors; keep facilities open during scheduled hours. Retail sales of firewood, concession items, ice, ice cream, and rentals (where applicable). Inventory management and control, restocking merchandise, tidy general area, inform supervisor of low stock. Customer Service and Communication Provide exceptional customer service as the first point of contact for day users and overnight campers. Strong communication skills with visitors and coworkers; adaptable and professional. Provide accurate and relevant information about park facilities, services, activities, tours, directives, policies, and regulations. Professionally receive, defuse, and manage all visitor concerns, complaints, emergencies, and feedback. Assist and collaborate with other park program streams (Rangers, Conservation Officers, Maintenance, Visitor Engagement, etc.). Report issues with reservation system, tills, POS, equipment, supplies promptly. Become a park specialist with detailed knowledge of park areas, history, programs, and conditions. Seasonal District Support Duties (AS3) Primary Duties Assume all AS2 duties. Manage POS system and till floats to ensure appropriate change is available. Review and reconcile camping and retail sales revenue; enter data into spreadsheets and complete weekly bank deposits. Input self-registration envelopes and data into spreadsheets and reconciliation forms. Assist Information Officers with cash out discrepancies. Assist Area Office Coordinator with other administrative tasks. Assist Supervisor with store inventory and scheduling cover-offs. Maintain open communication with other program areas; coordinate day-to-day tasks of the team; ensure daily procedures followed. Ensure IO team receives appropriate training for business operations, reservation system, and GOA processes. APS Competencies Agility – Anticipate and adapt to changing priorities and situations. Preference for experience with point-of-sale machines, retail, cash handling, or customer service. Additional Requirements English language proficiency. Availability to work weekends, evenings and holiday shifts during the season. Knowledge of and experience with computer software (Excel, Outlook, Word, Publisher). Equivalency Directly related experience considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education. Assets Strong customer service skills. Outgoing, friendly personality that enjoys working with the public in a team atmosphere. Knowledge of Alberta Parks and direct experience with Shop.AlbertaParks.ca. Familiarity with campground operations, regulations, etiquette, and park amenities. Ability to work both independently and in a team setting. Independent problem solving and adaptability. Seasonal District Support – Additional Details Required – AS3 High School Diploma. One year of supervisory or leadership experience and customer service experience. Equivalency – AS3 Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education, or one year of education for one year of experience. Continued Qualifications – AS3 English language proficiency. Knowledge of Alberta Parks and direct experience with Shop.AlbertaParks.ca. Availability to work weekends, evenings and holiday shifts during the season. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Publisher). Familiarity with campground operations, regulations, etiquette, and surrounding park amenities. Independent problem solving and adaptability.
