Labour & Employment Lawyers

Forte Workplace Law is looking for Labour and/or Employment lawyers with 3+ years of experience for our growing workplace law firm. Our ideal candidate has experience in labour, employment, workplace investigations, and/or human rights law. As a firm, we advise workers, employers and unions. We do advisory work and represent clients in workplace-related civil claims, and in matters before the Employment Standards Branch, Human Rights Tribunal, WorkSafe BC and labour arbitrations/Labour Board matters. We also conduct mediations and workplace investigations and provide respectful workplace and other training. Our Ideal Teammate You are called to the bar in BC with labour and/or employment law experience. You can run your own files (with support), so 3+ years of call experience is the minimum. We have no maximum experience in mind and welcome senior applicants. Experience in one or more of the following areas is an asset: Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility, WorkSafeBC matters, employment law, labour law, human rights, conducting workplace investigations. Delivering respectful workplace training or other adult education training is an asset. We have a busy, balanced labour law practice, and are ideally looking for a lawyer with experience running grievance arbitrations and Labour Relations Board files, including representing clients at hearings, and is open to advising both employer and union clients. Your Skills To excel in this role, you should have: A collaborative approach, valuing input of others when developing legal strategies and solutions. Experience interacting inclusively with a diverse population with cultural humility. A self-directed approach, with excellent time management and file management skills Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Proficiency with legal research tools. Solid tech skills, including MS Office and experience working with document management systems (NetDocs is an asset) and virtual meeting platforms (MS Teams and Zoom) Compensation & Location Assuming full time work, our salary range is $120,000 to $200,000, which can be prorated for part time, plus bonus eligibility.
