Individual pay within this range is determined by several compensable factors, including the year of study, type of academic program, and the number of prior co‑op work terms completed. Join Our Team as an Assistant CNC Operator (Co‑op) Are you passionate about CNC Machining? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual for ourJob Shop team. The Assistant CNC Operator (Co‑op) is responsible for setting up and performing basic maintenance of the CNC machine. Key Responsibilities Set up, adjust and operate the CNC machine according to work orders and specifications Set up with minor program Use manual pump trucks, cranes (overhead/jib) and lift devices as required to material and finished product(s) Monitor machine operation and perform troubleshooting tactics when necessary Ensure parts are manufactured in accordance with quality standards, target plans, and verify correct run quantities Visually inspect parts after each machine cycle and perform inspections as required Optimize the running of parts to best take advantage of the machine’s operating time Filling out production boards with output for the shift, as well as assisting in planning the afternoon shift production Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and follow organizational practices Strives for continuous improvement in all aspects of the work environment Troubleshoot and resolve issues as required Other duties as assigned Perform all his duties following Health and Safety procedures, including but not limited to wearing PPE, following sanitization routines, etc. What you’ll Need To Succeed In a registered co‑op program and eligible for the Summer 2026 4‑Month work term Currently pursuing a post‑secondary education as a Mechanical Engineering Technician or related field Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset Previous experience as a CNC Machine Operator is considered an asset Ability to read and interpret blueprints Ability to use calliper, micrometre, go no‑go gauges, etc. Excellent mechanical/mathematical aptitude and manual dexterity Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment Attention to detail Ability to work in a fast‑paced work environment with minimal supervision Excellent organizational and time‑management skills Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles is considered an asset Physical Effort Normal or frequent minor physical effort is required for the day‑to‑day activity in the workplace. May involve standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 20 lbs. Work Environment Acceptable working environment with minor or almost no disagreeable or challenging working conditions as part of everyday expected levels (all jobs will occasionally experience undesirable or disagreeable events).
