Join to apply for the Sr. Underwriter P&C- Commercial Lines role at Aviva Canada. We are recruiting for an Underwriter Property & Casualty to help expand our business in Ontario Commercial Insurance. As an underwriter, your accountability is to drive profitable growth through quality underwriting of our medium‑mid‑market sized commercial accounts, typically above the annual premium band of $10,000+. What You’ll Do Qualify and underwrite accounts by understanding customer needs and risk characteristics, ensuring both top‑line and profitability objectives. Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and customers to provide exceptional service. Maintain portfolio quality and profitability; refer risks outside established authority levels. Identify and address loss ratio, risk trend, or other discrepancies with remediation strategies. Build knowledge of all commercial insurance information systems and programs. Participate in quality reviews and audits as required. Support a compliant underwriting environment in line with guidelines and rules. What You’ll Bring 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience in property and casualty. Post‑secondary education (Business or related discipline) or equivalent experience. Preferably CIP/FCIP certification. Strong knowledge of underwriting, pricing, and product across segments. Working knowledge of related functional areas: Claims, Risk Management, Accounting, etc. Deep understanding of underwriting philosophy, policy contracts, rating programs, risk information sources, technical manuals, statutory constraints, and workflow procedures. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, RTM, commercial systems, and other related tools. Professional communication skills to build and maintain broker and customer relationships.
