As a national public broadcaster, we are committed to reflecting Canada’s diversity, resilience, and imagination while fostering innovation, agility, and sustainable impact across all media lines.Key ResponsibilitiesReport to the President & CEO as a senior member of the Executive Team, driving the strategy and day‑to‑day leadership of CBC’s English‑language services across news, radio, television, and digital platforms.Lead a workforce of over 3,000 employees in a highly unionised environment, overseeing creative editorial and operational teams to deliver trusted journalism, distinctive entertainment, and meaningful digital experiences.Drive transformation across people, content, and technology, modernising production models and embedding diversity and inclusion in decision‑making.Enhance collaboration across all media lines, particularly with Radio‑Canada – French Services, and strengthen partnerships with key corporate groups such as Technology & Infrastructure, Legal Services, People & Culture, Finance, and Corporate Development.Ensure CBC remains agile, innovative, and deeply relevant to Canadians in a fast‑changing media landscape.Qualifications & ExperienceExecutive experience leading large bilingual media organisations with a track record of strategic foresight and creative vision.Strong judgement, discipline, and imagination to drive innovation across news, entertainment, and digital platforms.Comfortable in boardrooms, newsrooms, creative strategy meetings, and community forums; builds trust through integrity, collaboration, and respect.Skilled in managing complex stakeholder dynamics, from the independent production community and unions to global media partners.Working proficiency in French or a strong commitment to developing that proficiency; CBC supports language development for the national role.Experience in a highly unionised workforce and in maintaining collaboration with diverse groups.Key SkillsStrategic PlanningSenior LeadershipOperations ManagementFinancial Acumen & BudgetingManagement ExperienceGrowth ExperienceEconomic DevelopmentSales ManagementFinancial Management & Report InterpretationLeadership ExperienceHiring ProcessCandidate selection will be followed by background checks, including a mandatory criminal record check and any additional checks required by operational needs.Equal Opportunity & Diversity StatementCBC/Radio‑Canada is committed to reflecting Canada’s diversity, nurturing an inclusive workplace, and valuing equal opportunity.
