Job Summary SPECIALTY DOCTOR IN General Adult Community Calderdale Enhanced Team Laura Mitchell Centre, Great Albion Street, Halifax, HX1 1YR Permanent, full time, 10 Programmed Activities per week plus on-call (part time may be considered) Overview South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are recruiting for a Specialty Doctor to join the Calderdale Lower & Calder Valley Enhanced Team based at the Laura Mitchell Centre, Halifax. The post is central to delivering high quality, person-centred care by providing skilled clinical input, supporting complex assessments, and contributing to robust treatment planning. The post holder will work closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care, timely interventions, and safe, effective service delivery. The position offers the opportunity to develop advanced clinical skills and take on meaningful responsibility within the team. Responsibilities Provide skilled clinical input, support complex assessments, and contribute to robust treatment planning. Work closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist and multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and timely interventions. Deliver high quality, person-centred care and contribute to safe, effective service delivery. Take on opportunities to develop advanced clinical skills and assume meaningful responsibility within the team. Essential and desirable qualifications, eligibility and physical/personal attributes are listed in the attached documents and summarized below. Essential Qualifications MB BS or equivalent medical qualification. Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment or have commenced the GMC eligibility process. Spent a minimum of four years of postgraduate medical experience in the UK or equivalent, including at least 2 years in psychiatry. Desirable Qualifications MRCPsych or other relevant qualifications. Additional qualifications in medical education, clinical research or management. Eligibility Good standing with GMC; ability to meet professional requirements at appointment. Experience in general medicine, geriatric medicine, or A&E is desirable. Physical Attributes Ability to undertake the duties of the post and comply with Trust health and safety policies (e.g., flu vaccination where not contraindicated). A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years. Smart professional appearance. Personal Attributes Emotional intelligence and leadership, flexible working, effective time and resource management, and ability to use electronic records. Commitment to annual appraisal and revalidation. Experience and Skills Excellent knowledge in specialty; strong clinical skills with a bio-psycho-social approach. Strong communication skills; ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty; evidence-based decision making. Ability to provide clinical leadership to a multi-professional team and liaise with various agencies.
