Local Department Head – Emergency Medicine – Mission Memorial Hospital Job Summary The responsibilities of the Local Department Head – Emergency Medicine include (but are not limited to): Participating in the Site Operations Committee or its equivalent for the Facility. Acting as the communication channel between the Regional Department and facility members, keeping them informed about Fraser Health, HAMAC, departmental objectives, policies, and general activities, and ensuring regional departments are aware of facility‑specific issues. Collaborating with the Regional Department Head to recommend appointments of practitioners, renew Medical Staff membership, and grant privileges (as of December 2020). Coordinating program requirements operating within the Facility. Promoting health and wellness among members. Investigating and documenting complaints regarding care provided by members within the department, under the direction of the appropriate Regional Department Head or Site Medical Director. Encouraging a healthy, respectful workplace. Reviewing, with the Regional Department Head, the human‑resource requirements of the regional department practicing within the Facility. Contributing to the search and selection of applicants for vacancies in the regional department. Conducting morbidity and mortality reviews and fostering a growth mindset that inspires continuous learning, emotional intelligence, and effective communication. Encouraging others to adopt new approaches, build resilience, and provide support, coaching, and encouragement to formal leadership and change influencers. Term of Appointment Three years.
