Parks Division is responsible for infrastructure management and development for Alberta Parks to ensure outdoor, nature-based recreation opportunities for all Albertaans that are safe, sustainable, accessible and enjoyable while balancing conservation values. The Visitor Services Supervisor (VSS) plays a key role in delivering safe, high-quality and consistent visitor services within Alberta’s provincial parks. The position is responsible for coordinating campground registration, booth operations, retail services and the provision of timely as well as accurate information to the public. As a Visitor Services Supervisor, you will provide leadership to a team of seasonal staff by offering guidance, coaching, training and day‑to‑day direction. You will ensure service standards, operational procedures and Occupational Health and Safety requirements are met while supporting the implementation of operational plans as well as service delivery priorities. Highlights of roles and responsibilities will require the ability to: Operate and deliver the Alberta Parks campground reservation/registration service in area parks. Oversee retail operations, planning, purchase, inventory of the campground store and caretaking services, and liaise with Maintenance and Recreation and Resource staff for compliance. Identify, market and promote the delivery of retail operations within Slave Lake Area. Provide leadership to seasonal staff to ensure efficient visitors booth service delivery and high‑quality customer service. Manage budget and revenues generated by Visitor Services program including developing projections, tracking expenditures, payment systems management, revenue reconciliation and reporting. Reccomend and implement improvements to area business and information operations. Carry out a range of administrative functions related to the Visitor Services Program. This role requires strong judgement, problem‑solving skills and a commitment to service excellence. You will need to work strategically and operationally and make decisions ranging from simple to complex. The successful candidate demonstrates the ability to build positive working relationships, adapt to changing operational needs and support a respectful and inclusive team environment. Some travel within Alberta will be required. A valid Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent) is required. Competencies are behaviors that are essential to reach our goals in serving Albertans. Qualifications Two-year Diploma in a related field ((tourism, recreation, business, etc.) and 2 years related experience; or equivalent as described below. Equivalency : Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year education. Required: Expertise using computer systems for data entry, email communication, and reporting (including Microsoft Office, point‑of‑sale systems, or reservation systems). Ability to perform Occupational Health and Safety requirements and apply safe work procedures in daily operations. Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as required by operational demands. A valid Class 5 driver’s licence. Valid three-year driver’s abstract Criminal Records Check A current Standard First Aid and CPR certificate. Assets: Experience preparing and maintaining staff schedules. Experience training staff on procedures, systems, or service standards. Experience handling cash, completing daily cash‑out procedures, and preparing revenue reconciliation records. Knowledge of Tourism and Destination Marketing, Retail industry, Organization and Time Management Customer Service Food Service Certificate. Knowledge of parks legislation, land use policy, and environmental planning frameworks in Alberta. This position is a full‑time permanent opportunity. This position has work hours from Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM-4:30 PM, 36.25 hours a week. Some weekend and evening shifts may be required. This position may require travel throughout the province. Candidates must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) and be willing to travel as needed.
