Working in a collaborative team structure you will be involved in every aspect of the design process, from schematic design to contract admin, focused on successful delivery of Workplace Consulting projects alongside the Senior Manager and Director.Other responsibilities include:Work independently and collaboratively on projects to manage required aspects of a project from the initial workplace strategy to the project closeout, and all elements in between as requiredSupport senior team members, while working independently or as part of group projectsThis role is directly part of the Ontario/Canadian teamResponsibilitiesWorkplace Design:Two (2) key parts to the role are listed below. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting senior team members with:Discovery activitiesTest FitsWorkplace Settings / Kit of Parts3D modelling / flythroughs (an asset)Workplace Design Services:Interior design services reviewed by project/ clientSchematic DesignDesign DevelopmentConstruction DocumentsContract AdminProject CloseoutKey Responsibilities (if required as part of scope of services and role performed)Collaborate and support other team membersCollaborate with and maintain professional relationships with clients through regular communicationSeek out innovation and best practice across all areas of the role – bring new ideas and thinking to client work and to internal processes and operations as appropriate.QualificationsAbilitiesProven ability to work on multiple projects at various stages at any one timeAssists in site surveying & documentation of client spaceUnderstands the requirements of the plans, life safety issues, building codes and other technical aspectsAssist in development of space planning that reflects client program profile and requirementsResearch and preparation of finishes concepts that reflect the functional, aesthetic & budget requirements of the projectKnowledgeable in drawing details, finishes, specifications and contract administrationHelp prepare documentation for the selection, specification, procurement and installation of furnishings and equipmentAble to support or step into larger projectsAble, on occasion, to attend afterhours or weekend project activities or travel within or outside of OntarioSkillsSpace Planning – Proficient with AutoCAD and/or REVITProficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Power Point, Word, Excel and ProjectAdvanced Adobe Creative Suite skillsComfortable with cloud-based software and online file sharingExceptionally well organized, with time and filesSelf-motivated and self-organizedAttentive, responsive, proactive, and action orientedHigh functioning in a fast-paced environment with ability to prioritize competing prioritiesEffective listener and communicatorComfortable with both collaborative and solitary workExperience6-10 years of experienceAbility to grow into an Intermediate Design role, with future aspirations of a Senior Designer roleExperience being part of a team that is highly transactional and mobileOne of the following types of experience would be valuable: 3D modelling & renderingEducationUndergraduate Business, Architecture, or Engineering degree, relevant college diploma, or other similar training/courseProfessional DevelopmentProfessional development and continuing education are encouraged so you may continue to progress in your role and the team may continue to innovate and offer best in class service and expertiseOther requirementsValid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a personal automobileWorkplace TypeOn-SiteAvison Young is committed to employing the best talent with the most fair and equitable recruitment practices.
