Support special needs students as a full-time Educational Assistant with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board. Use empathy, discretion, and classroom support skills daily.
This temporary, 10-month position is scheduled for 35 hours weekly and starts immediately. You will assist teachers with prescribed programs in individual and group settings. The work includes Individualized Education Plans, behaviour support, student care, communication logs, and classroom materials. Duration is unknown.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with prescribed programs for special needs students
- Support lessons, projects, crafts, charts, and teaching materials
- Implement Individualized Education Plans under teacher direction
- Observe and report student academic, motor, social, and behavioural development
- Provide toileting, feeding, transition, and classroom support
Requirements:
- Completed post-secondary Educational Assistant program or equivalent
- Minimum one year of experience working with children
- Ability to perform toileting and lifting tasks
- Positive, empathetic attitude toward students
- Confidentiality, independence, teamwork, and basic computer software knowledge
