Based in Central or Northern Ontario, the Junior Inspector will report to the Contract Administrator and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on completing field and technical inspections. You will be part of a team that offers Construction Management services to various public and private clients, including the provincial government, contractors, and municipalities. The work generally requires administering large-scale construction projects on highways, bridges, and roads throughout Ontario. The team typically acts in a quality assurance role, administering the construction contract, inspecting for adherence to specifications, handling quantity calculations, processing progress payments, etc. What You’ll Do: Complete field inspections including independently performing a broad range of technical inspections in accordance with established standards and regulations Conduct inspections of methods and materials used by contractors, while ensuring conformity Assess and analyze compliance with contract documents Ensure environmental protection measures are installed and functioning Complete materials testing including compaction testing, bag and tag materials, and conduct field surveys to verify dimensions and grade Accurately record inspection activities in Field Diary, provide continuous evaluation of construction progress, and provide reports to Contract Administrator on construction activity Who You Are: You can exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance You are trusted with the freedom to work independently while contributing to the overall team success You are physically fit and willing to work outside in all weather conditions You can travel and be away from home for extended periods of time You enjoy writing reports used by clients You can learn and work with various software on a laptop, as required You are excited to join a team that enjoys working together in a remote setting What You Should Bring: The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a postsecondary program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
