Research Associate in Adversarial Learning Join UNSW in the School of Computer Science and Engineering as a Research Associate focused on developing robust multimodal foundational models and adversarial attacks/defences. Role details: Salary: AUD 113,911 – 121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation Employment: Full time, Fixed‑term contract – 3 years starting January 2026 Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia Visa: Working rights in Australia required; visa sponsorship not provided Responsibilities Conduct independent and collaborative research as part of a defence‑funded project Develop adversarial models and attacks to evaluate robustness and security of multimodal foundational models Propose and implement effective defence methodologies Write scientific papers and reports for international journals, participate in conferences and workshops Supervise HDR students and collaborate with industry partners Qualifications & experience PhD (or soon to be awarded) in computer science, electrical engineering or related field with demonstrated experience in AI and cybersecurity Experience researching adversarial AI attacks and defence strategies Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision Track record of publications in top‑rated journals and conferences Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills with diverse stakeholders Experience supervising undergraduate students or junior staff Commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values; ability to implement UNSW health and safety policies How to Apply Please submit CV, cover letter and responses to the skills and experience via the UNWS JOBS portal.
