Job SummaryThe Financial Analyst, Business Intelligence supports business planning, financial analysis, and performance reporting across the organization. This role is responsible for building financial models, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and translating financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights for decision-making. The role will also serve as a key Power BI contributor, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining dashboards and reports used by the finance team and business stakeholders. Candidates should be comfortable working independently in Power BI and translating business questions into effective data models and visual insights. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone early in their finance career who has a strong business foundation, solid technical skills, and the ability to take open-ended requests and determine the right analytical approach. Location and work modelThis role is based in our Dartmouth, NS office and follows a hybrid work model, with flexibility and a minimum of two in-office days per week. Duties and Responsibilities Financial Analysis & Modelling: Analyze monthly and quarterly financial performance, including profit and loss results, variances, and key business drivers Build and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and business planning Support development of business cases, investment analysis, and business valuation models, with guidance as needed Assist in evaluating strategic initiatives such as capital investments, partnerships, and growth opportunities Conduct market and industry research to support planning and decision-making Support preparation of business plans and financial materials for internal and external stakeholders Reporting & Business Intelligence Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to support financial and operational decision-making Translate business and financial requirements into effective data models, visuals, and measures Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability across reports and dashboards Partner with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and continuously improve reporting quality and insights Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning and analysis activities Prepare reports, presentations, and ad hoc analysis for senior leadership Contribute to ongoing improvements in financial models, tools, and reporting processes Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required 1–3 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, corporate finance, consulting, or a similar analytical role Strong foundational knowledge of financial modelling and corporate finance concepts Exposure to business valuation or investment analysis is an asset Strong working knowledge of Power BI, including dashboard design, data modeling, and basic DAX Demonstrated experience building Power BI dashboards from raw or semi-structured data (through coursework, internships, or professional experience) Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modelling and analysis Ability to work through ambiguous requests and independently determine an appropriate analytical approach Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment What We Offer Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plan Employee & Family Assistance Program RRSP matching program Health care spending account Physical Wellness Reimbursement Plan At Mara we value diversity, equity, and inclusion.
