Please note that this is a hybrid role in our Burnaby, BC (British Columbia) Head Office. Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our 4567 Canada Way office and/or are not looking to relocate to BC will not be considered for this position.Who you are An experienced security professional with strong technical skills and a passion for safeguarding systems. You thrive on problem-solving, innovation, and working collaboratively with others. An effective communicator who can explain technical security concepts clearly and respectfully to diverse audiences and teams. Proactive and detail-oriented . You take initiative to identify risks, design inclusive solutions, and improve security practices with empathy and accessibility in mind. Calm under pressure with excellent analytical skills — you approach incidents, escalations, and investigations thoughtfully and with care. During a typical day, you will: Collaborate closely and respectfully with infrastructure, development, and business teams to provide security guidance and hands-on support. Lead security reviews and design robust security controls across networks, applications, and cloud environments. Deploy, configure, and maintain security tools such as SIEM, EDR, firewalls, and cloud security platforms. Research and assess emerging security technologies to enhance BCAA’s security posture. Audit and strengthen security configurations on cloud, endpoints, infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines. Administer data loss prevention (DLP) policies and support inclusive identity and access management initiatives. Oversee SIEM operations including log onboarding, parsing, and use case development. Lead incident response activities with collaboration, per forming forensic analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery. Support compliance efforts related to PCI, ISO27001, and other regulatory frameworks. Monitor firewall , router, switch, and security appliance configurations and events. Review and approve security change requests to ensure safe and effective implementations. What you bring 7+ years in a security role, with at least 2 years in security engineering. Relevant education such as CISSP certification, undergraduate degree in Computer Science, or equivalent diplomas/certifications. Hands-on experience with AWS, IAM, Infrastructure as Code, and enterprise security tools including Firewalls, SIEM, MDM, and solutions . Familiarity with Agile development environments and experience collaborating with diverse development teams. Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to explain complex security topics in an accessible way. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a way that respects different perspectives. Proactive approach with strong troubleshooting, analytical, and organizational skills. A collaborative mindset that prioritizes doing the right thing for BCAA members and embraces continuous learning and inclusion. The salary range for this position is $117,845 to $147,307 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 9%, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%.
