Medical Director - Urgent and Primary Care Centre - Port Coquitlam We are seeking an innovative physician to join our team as a Medical Director (MD) for the Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) in Port Coquitlam. The MD will build and support a culture of patient and care‑team safety and clinical effectiveness, where the patient and family are at the centre of clinical system design. As a consensus builder, you lead by example and understand how to address site needs within the broader context of the health delivery system and multiple service delivery requirements. Reporting: This position reports to the Regional Medical Director (RMD) for Primary Care Integration. Key Areas of Involvement Effective Delivery of Clinical Services: Ensure that clinic physicians deliver services appropriately within the remit of the UPCC. Quality and Utilization Monitoring / Improvement: Engage in multidisciplinary quality improvement and utilization management activities; review expected standards of medical practice; investigate complaints in collaboration with the RMD when appropriate. Administration: Attend UPCC Medical Director meetings; provide communication channels with Fraser Health leadership; recommend and contribute to policies and guidelines; promote health and wellness amongst department members; encourage a healthy, respectful workplace; review physician resource requirements; contribute to selection of new physician staff; dispute resolution and mediation of disputes involving clinic physicians. Medical Legal Issues: Identify potential liability issues and provide advice for specific cases/files to the RMD and/or Legal Counsel. Qualifications & Experience Current licensure with CPSBC and Canadian College of Family Physicians (CCFP). Two (2) years leadership experience within the healthcare sector. Additional training in management is preferred; prior academic leadership experience is an asset. Demonstrated leadership in roles that move forward organizational change in primary care. Sound working knowledge of running a primary care clinic, including staffing, budgeting, quality improvement activity and service delivery. Proven verbal, written, communication and presentation skills within a leadership capacity. Term & Compensation Term: Three (3) years, renewable by the RMD. Reappointment considered based on annual performance reviews. Time Commitment: 0.2 FTE. Compensation: Contract. Expenses Physician reimbursed for expenses incurred while providing services, in accordance with Fraser Health’s Travel and Business Expenses Policy. Location Community – Port Coquitlam.
