What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience” Prepare accurate, detailed cost estimates for large-scale RFPs, greenfield projects, and complex scopes within targeted vertical markets. Analyze project requirements, specifications, and technical documents to understand scope, risks, and deliverables. Operate as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) in Convergint’s core building automation systems. Participate in interactions with vendors and qualification of potential new solutions contributing to our standard product line card of offerings. Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure estimates reflect accurate costs, resources, and timelines. Participate in site walks, pre-bid meetings, and technical discussions to fully assess project needs and unique requirements. Source pricing from vendors, subcontractors, and partners for materials, labor, and services to meet project specifications. Work closely with team members, providing mentorship and guidance on estimating tools, processes, and standards. Identify scope gaps, project risks, and value engineering opportunities to provide innovative solutions. Work with installation teams to ensure feasibility and accuracy of estimates. Apply industry knowledge of regulations and compliance requirements. Track project costs, potential risks, and margins to optimize pricing strategies. Stay updated on building automation technology, industry standards, and product pricing. Ensure estimates align with company pricing strategies and market competitiveness. Assist in managing the estimating process to ensure consistency, scalability, and alignment with program objectives. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required. What You’ll Need 3-5 years of experience in estimating, project management, or system design within the building automation industry Ability to read and analyze construction documents, drawings, specifications, and technical scopes. Experience with the construction bid/tendering process and formal RFP/RFQ processes Proficiency in estimating software, Bluebeam, Excel, and project collaboration tools. Knowledge of materials, labour costs, and subcontractor coordination Ability to identify risks, recommend value engineering solutions, and ensure profitability goals are met. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with internal teams, customers, and vendors. Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and delivering results. Product-specific certifications preferred: Tridium, Honeywell, Schneider EBO, Distech. Field experience (Installation and Service) is considered an asset. Requirements Education: Degree, trade school, or equivalent experience. Minimum Experience: 3-5 years in estimating, project management, or system design within the building automation industry Work Environment The position is primarily office based with occasional site visits and travel to other CTC locations across Canada.
