Duties include preparing patients, operating imaging equipment, administering radiopharmaceuticals, and performing quality control testing. Radiation safety and ALARA principles are applied in all activities.ResponsibilitiesPerform a full range of technical tasks: prepare patients, position them, administer radiopharmaceuticals, and operate Nuclear Medicine cameras, computers and counting equipment according to standards.Provide patient care before, during and after examinations and respond to emergent situations in accordance with policies; may perform CPR as needed.Handle radioactive materials in compliance with license regulations; monitor areas with appropriate detection devices; apply ALARA principles.Prepare diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals and dispense doses under sterile conditions; perform quality control and documentation.Prepare and administer radioactive therapeutic agents under SOPs; perform necessary quality control and documentation.Prepare leukocyte labeling in compliance with regulations; perform quality control and documentation.Conduct non-imaging in-vivo/in-vitro Nuclear Medicine procedures and administer labeled products as required.Prepare interventional pharmacologic agents as required; follow pharmacy and procedure protocols.Adhere to DMA approvals for interventional pharmacologic agents as applicable.Complete patient data archiving and ensure correct exams are recorded for billing/workload.Perform administrative duties in radiopharmacy information systems and manage supplies; monitor inventory levels.Assess and triage patients to adapt workflow and camera suitability as needed.Perform routine quality control on all Nuclear Medicine equipment and troubleshoot as needed; report status to supervisor.Maintain radiation safety, OH&S, and infection control compliance; document as required.Report incidents of overexposure or radioactivity issues to Radiation Safety Officers.Maintain CPR and TDG certification; participate in ongoing training (infection control, radiation safety, safety modules).Orient, instruct and demonstrate procedures to staff and trainees.Participate in approved research and departmental Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN initiatives.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation, Training and ExperienceCertification with the CAMRT (Nuclear Medicine).CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.Skills And AbilitiesWorking knowledge of PACS and digital imaging systems.Knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with nuclear medicine equipment.Knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Regulations.Ability to perform radioisotope examinations in compliance with standards.Knowledge of research processes and methodology.Communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare teams; ability to work independently and in a team.Strong planning and workload prioritization abilities; CPR proficiency.Computer proficiency with current applications.Physical ability to perform duties.About Fraser HealthFraser Health serves over two million people in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, with a focus on planetary health and diversity.
