Controls Systems Technician (Airport Technologies Montreal) Join to apply for the Controls Systems Technician (Airport Technologies Montreal) role at Daifuku. As a member of this team you will help bring electronic, mechanical, and software expertise to the electrical/controls portion of these systems. Major Areas of Responsibility Travel to customer sites. Installation and technical support of PLC‑based hardware and software. Perform control system and software changes; create and modify system specifications and operating procedures. Program, troubleshoot, and repair sensors, scanners, visualization systems, motors, frequency inverters and encoders. Participate in testing and commissioning efforts at major airports. Support proposals and customer inquiries. Meet timelines to ensure projects stay on schedule and on budget. Build engineering and design skillsets where possible. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to raise and solve issues and outages. Basic Knowledge Engineering and Technology – Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. English Language – Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including grammar. Basic Skills & Abilities Time Management – Managing one’s own time (and the time of others). Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions. Judgment and Decision Making – Considering costs and benefits to choose the most appropriate course. Monitoring – Assessing performance to make improvements or corrective actions. Verbal and Written Expression – Communicating information and ideas through spoken or written words. Problem Sensitivity – Detecting when something is wrong or likely to go wrong. Conscientiousness – Recognizing tasks that need to be completed and facilitating their completion independently. Occasional extended hours, weekends, and holidays on customer sites; travel across the country for commissioning and on‑site engineering tasks. Off‑shift work may be needed to support commissioning efforts. Education & Experience E.T. or relevant technical degree, or equivalent relevant work experience. Experience with Siemens PLC S7‑300, S7‑400, S7‑1500 series (preferred). Knowledge of integrated safety PLCs (preferred). Knowledge of industrial networks: Profibus, Profinet (preferred). Experience with material‑handling equipment (preferred). Physical Abilities Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move throughout the office to access file cabinets and equipment. Operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others verbally; read, identify, and assess forms and correspondence. On job sites, walk airports and plants; remain standing for most of the shift; climb ladders to access conveyor systems.
